So my 5 month old kitten has recently decided that the expensive kitten food hes been getting since ive had him is no longer good enough. He will sniff it in the bowl and then walk away. He definitely still has an apetite but he only wants to eat whatever im having. Any tips on getting him back onto cat food as I really dont want to be cooking restaurant quality meals for or sharing my take away with the cat forever.

He especially loves chicken vindaloo, I have to hide in my room with the door shut if i want to have a peaceful indian dinner. I think he especially likes spicy food to be honest.

Spices can be harmful to cats, especially garlic and onions, so please don't share your food with your cat no matter how much he begs. Plain cooked meat (poached in water or baked) or raw meat is fine in small amounts as a treat.

I suggest taking the cat to the vet to rule out any possible medical condition. Then address the food. Are you feeding dry or canned or both? Try a different brand of food, add toppers (crushed up treats, tuna water, bonito flakes, FortiFlora, etc) to the food to make it more appealing.

A home cooked diet and raw diet may be considered. Neither have to be gourmet restuarant quality but do need to be a complete balanced diet and you do want to use meats that you buy froma supermarket or butcher shop, not roadkill or other questionable meat. Pet stores sell commerical faw diets in various forms (frozen, freeze dried, dehydrated, air dried) and that's an easy way to get started on raw. Making raw from scratch is a bit complicated so read up on that before you start. The only easy way I knw to make home cooked is by adding a pre mix such as U Stew to chunked up cooked meat.
