I know, I'm an idiot for medicating Pretty. I hope the ativan I gave her wears off by this morning.

The correct dosage would have sufficed, (.125 mg-.25mg). There is some light to this - she came up to me a few times and sniffed my finger, or hand, she played with Baby quite a bit (she was becoming a little aloof toward him as well.) They slept together almost all day - the sweetest snuggling you could imagine.

And Pretty even played with a toy feather, and became interested in some other toys too.

But her staggering was frightening. I don't know of an antidote for ativan, but she is eating and drinking, and I have added brewers yeast to her food (B vitamins). I will see how she is later on when she wakes up, about

8:30 a m.

Besides confirming that I am a jerk, can someone please tell me how long ativan lasts, and what else I can do to 'sober' her up? At this point, I am watching her and waiting for it to wear off.

I would either contact your vet asap for guidance or a pet poison hotline: http://www.onegreenplanet.org/anima...ines-to-contact-if-you-suspect-pet-poisoning/

The number for the Pet Poison Helpline in that list has changed: http://www.petpoisonhelpline.com/contact/

And please only use vet prescribed meds in the future.  Vets can rx benzodiazepines (a different drug class may be more appropriate), but a full assessment, including physical exam, is necessary first.  Emotional disturbances are sometimes the symptom of a medical condition- it's important to rule them out.

Keep us updated!

In humans i think its about 8 hours.  You can also contact the ASPCA poison hotline

Hi 3rd Name,

Happy New Year! (sorry this is long)

I had medicated Pretty Girl to calm her down- to relax - start feeling comfortable etc.

It worked well, but I only used it three times. I also have to sedate them to 'capture' and transport them to the vet.

(Acepromazine didn't work on Baby. It made him MORE skiddish and frightened)

Yes, I consulted several veterinarians, two of which I know personally, and the verdict was 'valium'.

They use valium I V as a preanesthetic.

Phermones, i.e feliway didn't really have an effect.

These are FERAL cats that cannot be handled! It has been five months and the situation is not

significantly better, although Baby will rub against my leg feeding time.

I had been asked to leave because I brought them in, when the landlord had specifically said not to

feed the ferals. (Pretty walked in starving). He has changed his mind and said I can stay. (I don't want to).

And he still expects me to 'get rid' of the cats. That won't happen unless God fulfills numerous Miracles!

They will have to go with me when I leave, and THAT will be a headache when the time comes.

They BOTH want to go out. I let Pretty Girl (mother) go out and she comes back 3 days later AND

I have to trick her to get her inside! This is much, much, much more than I imagined it would be.

It is cold out, but I think I will let her go out when she wants, and come in when she wants to. THIS would have been accomplished by now, but the jerk landlord screwed it up. (summertime he can see what goes on from his deck).

Colder now- he smokes in the garage and doesn't really see what's going on.

Otherwise, I am hanging in there and I need to find a place.

Ideally, it would be nice if someone in the neighborhood would take on the responsibility since they accustomed to the area and it's rather safe.

BUT THIS PROBLEM AROSE BECAUSE OF THE IDIOT NEIGHBORS WHO DON'T FOLLOW THROUGH WITH WHAT THEY START! I have spoken to a few that will contribute to my capture and spay of another 2 or 3 ferals that are still  around. The jerk across the street who fed Pretty once or twice 'doesn't want to be involved', will hear it from me upon my departure from this stuck up, snotty neighborhood.
