So ... a kitten swallowed something they probably shouldn't have ...

Before I start this, I have done a lot of research and a lot of where this stems is that the closest emergency animal hospital is over an hour away so getting to a vet will be an issue.

We are fostering what we think are four week old kittens. We have had them about a week.

We have tried baby cereal and crushed up kitten chow and they absolutely don't like it. We sometimes have luck with canned cat food but not a whole lot.

We still bottle feed them because that's the only way we can get them to actually eat. Well, one of them decided to play the biting game and bit a small chunk of the nipple of the bottle off.

Most of the threads I've seen said call the vet or let it pass ... I would really appreciate insight from anyone that may have previously experienced something like this. She seems fine but then again if she swallowed it, it hasn't been very long.

Like I said, the nearest emergency vet is over an hour away and none of our county vets will be available until Monday.

If we need to take her, should she be okay about 36 hours until we have a chance to take her?

This is pretty common in kittens who are ready for weaning, they feel starving and will chew off a chunk of the nipple.

It will pass.

Time for some canned pate food mashed with formula.

Use a shallow dish/saucer.
