I just got my new kitten and my mom got her's on Thursday the 10'th from this family who smoked to much in there home, and my moms kitten has ear mites and an eye Affection.   My Kitten also has ear mites , and no eye affection but something wrong every time i touch his stomach or rub it he meows very loudly, we gave him some medication for worms he just went poop in the litter box and i checked it but he doesn't have worms there is something very small and black in his poop i am not sure what it is but i think it may be Melena stool ?  but his poop is very soft and brown, only a small part of it is black so i am not sure what it could be.

I called One Of My Vets in the area he said it could be the medication that darkened his stool and if i don't think that is what it is to keep an eye on him

Have you had both kittens treated for ear mites and eye infections at the vet's office? Cigarette smoke does not cause ear mites and eye infections.

How old are the kittens and what are you feeding them?

is it an eye infection per say ... just  asking  because cigarette smoking does cause

an upper respiratory infection and most tell tell signs in cats is green junk coming

from their eyes in which case you still need a vet for antibiotics .. as for as ear mites

a mixture of gentian violet and rubbing alcohol and 4tablespoons of boric acid shake

mixture really well before squirting into the pets ear ..after 2x a day for 3 days then

you can use a qtip or cotton ball to rub the mites out of the outer part of the pets ear..

I would suggest getting the vet to check that the kitten actually has mites, because it could be an infection- therefore may require antibiotics! Also I wouldn't put anything harsh in the baby's ears- such as alcohol. If it is ear mites - they are rarely cured by home remedies - and often require prescription only drops. I was also advised not to use q-tips as it is difficult to know how far to insert them and you can accidentally damage the the ear drum, especially when your kitten is wriggling about and moving her head- as they do when you clean their ears.

Good luck, let us know how u get on

maybe my text was out of context I didn't say to stick the qtip in the ear completely ..

only the outer ear was to be cleaned with the cottonball or qtip ..,Thank you for clairifying

.the need for a vet ,I was only suggesting the use of the mixture as I have used it for 30+ years

and we use it often on our tnr cat colonies ,
