I found this site while looking for ideas on how to trim my kittens nails. Found a few ideas, but she still doesn't like getting anything near them.

Anyway. I always had cats growing up. Just one at a time. My parents first cat had some brain damage and I remember being scared of it. For being a little kid I guess that might have been normal. Then we got my cat, Lily. She was the sweetest kitten and wouldn't leave my side. But my dad was working at a job where he did half nights and half days, so Lily spent more time with him and turned into his "puppy". My parents had to put her down a few years ago because she was so sick. Lots of stories about her. Now, living on my own, I got myself a cat. I was told she is half Maine coon and half rag doll. It's what I hoped to find and what made me look at the picture, then seeing her picture I knew I wanted her. She does have a few qualities and traits that my ex in:laws purebred Maine coon had, but even if she isn't maaine coon at all I still would want her. Sent to get her from her previous owner. She was scared to death and hid. They ended up catching her and putting her in the carrier I brought. Told me she was 7 months old and had never been to the vet. She was also one of three cats and probably seven dogs, the cats were locked in what seemed to be a smaller laundry room or some type of closet. I felt so bad for her I took her. Part of me wanted to take the other one they were giving away too (claimed a purebred rag doll, and had the right coloring). I just didn't know if the scared one would be on with another cat, and the initial vet bills are so expensive. When I asked what kind of food and litter they had been using they had no idea. They hadn't even named the cats, but had been calling this one Munchkin. Got her home, with her screaming the whole way, and my mom went to buy food and litter we had used in the past. Thankfully she is OK with them. She darted in the basement and hid right away. None of the doors in my house shut right, so I couldn't just keep her in a smaller area. She opened the basement door to get down there way too easy. It took a few days, but with treats I was able to coax her out of hiding. Then she would come upstairs and explore, but ran if I moved at all. At her first vet trip I was told she was probably 7 months old, so that made her 6 months when I got her, and seemed healthy. She went back a month later to get spayed. Now she is about 11 months old and is my little sweetheart. She is always by my side. As soon as I sit she is in my lap. Gets annoying sometimes when I am trying to do something, like putting shoes on to go to work, but it is worth it. She also seems to have abandment issues, so we think she might have been left somewhere when little (previous owners gave the impression that they were trying to rescue all of the pets they had). So she now travels with me if I go to my parents or the amazing neighbor will check on her. But once she sees my suitcase is packed she will go sit in her carrier. Not the biggest fan of riding in the car, but she is getting better now that she knows I'm not leaving her somewhere. And she loves exploring at my parents and does get spoiled there. She doesn't enjoy other people and will hide. But if people are around enough, like my mom, she will start to come to them and let them pet her. My dad is a different story, and guy actually, she will hid and wait until she knows they are gone. Makes us wonder how she was treated before I got her. But we are slowly working on that by just having my dad spend time in her hiding room with her. Finally, after three months, she will rub against his feet. Overall she is a great furbaby, with just a few things we are working on.

Anyway...that is my cat story. Glad to be a member here
