Hi cat lovers!

This post is similar to Indie's post, but different enough so that I started a new post instead of replying.

I adopted my cat Rhett 9 months ago. He is healthy, happy, affectionate and playful. Up to recently he has had a very good appetite. I buy him very good quality food because it's my theory that expensive cat food is much cheaper than one visit to the vet.

He has always enjoyed his wet food, which I always heat slightly in the microwave. He tolerated his dry food (he gets both twice a day). Recently he has started leaving most of his wet food. Today he didn't eat it at all. He is still eagerly eating his dry food.

I would greatly appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks so much!

First off, welcome to the Cat Site!

Are you feeding Rhett just one kind of wet food? Or is he getting a variety? Lots of cats (ours in particular!) get bored with their food so many of us switch their foods frequently. Even if you're serving him several recipes from one brand, I might suggest introducing another brand into a rotation of foods to see if that would help. Our cats get multiple recipes from three brands, plus "variety meals" from a few other brands, and that's only the canned part of their diet! They usually get two (occasionally three) brands of canned food per day.

Good luck!

Agree with the comment above! He is probably bored with that food if you're not feeding different flavors/variety. Consider searching this forum on food rotation to get some ideas of other foods you could introduce.
