Hello all ! I have been socializing ferals for awhile but I think I need a refresher. One of our neighbors has several stray cats and one had kittens. We finally trapped one kitten. He is scared, but when you handle him he lets you do what he wants to him. He doesnt scratch or hiss at all. He is probably 12 weeks old. I have him in a very large dog crate with a pet carrier and liter box. We have had him 3 days. He finally ate yesterday. I feel bad cause he is just in one corner in this crate. The room is kitty proof from our other kittys be fostered but I dont know if I should let him have to run of the room or keep him in the crate. I do have the tv on for him just to give more info. What do you guys think.

Hi, welcome to the cat site. I think it would be better to keep him in the crate now. It will be easier for you to handle him and he'll feel a lot safer in an enclosed space.

12 weeks is the perfect age to socialise him, the more time you can spend talking to him and petting him the better. Has the kitten been seen by a vet yet? If he's been outside he'll need to be treated for fleas and worms.

Keep us updated on how it goes.
