So we just adopted a second kitty who came to us with herpes. The vet has both kitties taking daily lysine but we are at the end of our first bottle (we used the paste). The resident cat is allergic to chicken so we can't use the treats. Anyways - I can't find anything to measure out the amount of powder for each dose! A scoop would be ideal but anything is great - how do we measure this out? Thanks in advance!

I use powdered lysine from capsules which I break apart. I have a little scoop that's about 1/8 tsp size. I measured out how many scoops were in the capsule so I know how many to give with each meal. The scoop came with a box of fish medication, but you could use the smallest in a set of measuring spoons. Based on my experience, 1/4 tsp would be about 167mg of lysine BUT this is obviously a very rough guestimate based on the particular powder I use. Yours could be ground finer etc so there are obviously variables to consider.
What's the weight of the can you bought it in? It doesn't say anywhere how many mgs that is?

If you get the big jar of lysine powder, 1/4 teaspoon is 435mg.  I give mine a heaping 1/4 t twice a day.  One of mine only gets half of the 1/4 teaspoon because she's not showing any symptoms.
