Rain! Glorious Rain!

Anyone else getting much needed rain today?  I am CELEBRATING!!      

We haven't had a drop of rain at my house in weeks.  All summer I have watched storms go north and south of me.  It's so frustrating!  Every time I've gone out in the last few weeks the farmers have been watering the fields around my house.  

But today; oh today is sooo wonderful!  I have a backyard weather station and so far it has recorded 2.17"  of rain!    If it's possible; my yard looks greener already!  If there wasn't thunder with these storms I might have let the kids go run in the rain! 

I'm seriously very very happy today!

I know it might be strange; but I'm energized by a rainy day.  I've gotten all the kids toys SORTED and put away.  Vacuuming is done and I fixed the vacuum cleaner.  Sorting those toys took forever even with them helping.  We've also stopped to admire the rain a few times.    It's nice to feel like I'm getting plenty done!!

We had one pop of thunder that was insanely close.   All but one foot left the floor and I yelped.  I have a weather app that shows where all the recent lightning strikes were.  I had been standing next to the living room window that overlooks the backyard; but I was looking inside.  It truly sounded like a big pop.  I checked the app and then Google Earth...it struck about 125' from where I was standing.  There is a big maple tree there and some tall pines behind it but I don't see any damage from here.  I'll check the next time we go outside. 

YES!!!

We need it SO badly here!  I think it hasn't rained to any degree in a month.  Our town issued a water consumption warning earlier this week.  I'm hoping after all we got yesterday/today it will be lifted.

It is truly a blessing to get rain when it is sorely needed. In my area, farmers are still trying to get corn harvested. We have had enough rain that it is delaying some of them. But I still love to sit on my porch in a slow soaking rain, lay down on the sofa and go to sleep.

I'm telling you I was so excited that I could have gone outside and danced in the rain! We haven't had any in so long and we were all happy. Tomorrow is supposed to be pretty much a wash-out with rain and showers all day. I don't care.  It is rain!

We know that feeling - it was a long, hot, dry summer, so when it finally rained everybody was thrilled.

It hasn't rained since May and won't till October. Hurry up winter.
