I started using Revolution the past few months because my vet strongly suggested it not only for flea prevention but also all the other parasites that could post problems. I must have been a dummy because I didn't know cats could get heart worm, duh. My cats will both be 10 in December and are strictly inside cats. I never had a flea problem before but I also have two dogs that could bring them in and fleas are a HUGE problem this year. I use Advantix II on the pups. Yes, I know to be very careful with that product around cats. I've been using Advantix on the pups for years with no problems and I apply it at night in their crates where they spend the night and my cats NEVER go in the pups crates, there's no shared grooming and they don't share sleeping spots. So to move onto my issue. I applied the Revolution as usual and after this past application Eureka lost a spot of hair at the application site. Coincidentally I had scheduled to have my cats to the vet for their annual exam, rabies shot and blood work so my vet saw it and agreed it looked like a negative reaction. I called the company and documented this reaction. Has anyone else using Revolution have this happen to their kitties? Vet suggested I use it one more time and try to spread out the application site to see it if happens again. There didn't seem to be any discomfort with this I petted her and there was no reaction and also no rubbing or rolling which might indicate itchiness. I was thinking of stopping with the Revolution once things really cool down here, under 32 degrees and the start up again in the spring.

On a side note, and perhaps I should start a new thread on this but does anyone have the option of a three year rabies shot for their cats? My pups get a mercury free three year rabies shot but my cat's vet says they only offer a one year mercury free option. I also asked her about titering which they also don't do. I do titer my pups and they haven't needed any vaccines other then Rabies for years. I pass on Lepto, Lyme and Bordetella.  Eureka gets FVRCP (three year vaccine) and Rabies (required by law) Zuzu only gets Rabies because she has Epilepsy, I would like to pass on Rabies for her but I'm afraid to take that chance if she ever gets outside.

There is a three year Purevax rabies vaccine for cats now. Maybe your vet would special order it for you, or maybe there's another vet in your area that offers it. From what I hear, it's more expensive than the one year version, and most owners don't want to pay extra so most vets don't carry it.
