Hi,

I posted here some time ago about my cat blocking a lot.
this past weekend, he blocked again and I had to take him to a new vet since mine was closed.   This vet reccommends the PU surgery.   The problem is, I'm disabled, and this vet will not allow me to make payments on the surgery.
I applied for Care Credit and was denied due to no credit history.

I started up a GoFundMe, and I've contacted several charities, but so far it's slow going.

Does anyone have any further ideas for raising money for this?

If you could donate, or just share the link....it would mean a lot for me and my sweet kitty.

Thanks.

Thank you for allowing this to be posted.
I have included the vets contact information for anyone who wants to double check this.   I completely understand that.

I so appreciate all the help you can all give me, even just a simple share means so much.

The vets info is in the GoFundMe page, but here it is again as well.

Try checking out some of the charities on the US Humane Societies site:

http://www.humanesociety.org/animals/resources/tips/trouble_affording_pet.html

They have them broken down into national and state groups.

Also, have you tried Modest Needs? Their website is: https://www.modestneeds.org/ They are a different concept than go fund me but basically allow people to contribute to your cause. Since the organization confirms your need, many people like to give through this site.

What about trying other vets? Before I moved, I had a vet who would allow me to write post dated checks as part of a payment plan.

I hope you are able to raise the funds for the surgery. This is such a heartbreaking situation.

Thanks for the links...  :)
I've applied at everyone on the list that I was able to.  :)

I will check out Modest needs.
I'm also calling around to other vets in my area.  So far all of them want payment all at once.   But i'll keep trying.

I've been in contact with Red Rover, they are willing to help with 100$  :)

I'm unable to use Modest Needs, I can't drive and I have no fax machine so I was denied.

That's a shame about modest needs. I've been able to get around the need for a fax before by photographing the document and sending it as an email attachment. This only works if you have a way to photograph your documents.

Another option is to take advantage of the 30 day free trial period at eFax.com. Here you send them the emails attachments of your documents and they fax them on to the destination. You do need a debit or credit card, however.

I wish I could provide more help. How is your kitty doing in the meantime?

Lafayette seems to be doing okay today.   But with him, it's only a matter of time until he blocks again.

I've been sick all night after an ER visit for a broken wisdom tooth...So as they say, when it rains, it pours.

I'm just hoping he stays unblocked until I can find some way to afford his surgery.    I feel horrible doing the GoFundMe.   Every time i've posted it somewhere I've been treated like a useless beggar.   Makes me feel horrible.

Try to keep your head up - people can be mean, but there are lots of caring people out there as well. I'm sorry about your tooth - ouch. [emoji]128557[/emoji] How many times has Lafayette blocked? Poor baby.

This is the...5th time, that he's blocked.

The first time he went a year without an issue.

Then the second, third, fourth and this last time have been in the span of 2 months.

Wow, that's quite many blockages. Was he on any special RX food? If you have a scanner you can send faxes through the internet for free.

Please do not feel badly about the GoFundMe, you need help for your kitty, this sort of thing is very much unexpected and expensive. I am glad Red Rover can help. By any chance do you have anyone who could/would, co-sign on the Care Credit account? Or possibly something you might be able to sell? I'm trying to think of ways you might possibly raise some money quickly.

I applied at Pet Fund and am waiting to hear back....

I'm also looking at different vets who may offer me the chance to make payments.

I had 2 friends apply with me for Care Credit and both got denied.

I don't have anything of value to sell.....but maybe I can think of something......

Looks like it's back to the vet when they open today.   Woke up at 6 am to Lafayette blocked again    Worst part is, this means another office visit charge as well.   :(

I wanted to stop by and update you all.   Lafayette is at the vet, and they have agreed to go ahead and do the surgery.   I had 100$ left in my savings, which I gave them to start.  I still have to figure out how to pay for the surgery, but at least Lafayette will have it done and I can figure out the rest as time goes on.

I hope the GoFundMe works.....and I appreciate all the help so far!   I'm praying that Lafayette comes through it okay.  I won't know until tomorrow.
