My senior cat will eat any type of wet cat food happily. My young cat has definite likes and dislikes. Pretty much, when I try new types of canned cat food, I know that if my young cat won't eat it, my senior cat will.

Since, I've switched my young cat over all to an all canned food diet, I've been experimenting to find out what he will eat. My young cat doesn't seem to want to eat any plain turkey canned cat food. I've tried Wellness and 4 Health brands and he won't touch them. He does like Wellness chicken flavor, Merrick chicken pate, and also likes Tiki tuna and crab.

I decided to try Fancy Feast chicken and liver classic and my young cat gobbled it down at record speed. He eat almost a whole 3 oz can and usually he doesn't eat that much at a sitting.

How often can I give FF in my rotation? Can cats safely have liver and the other ingredients in it often, or is there anything that I should be concerned about and try to limit or space out?

There's nothing wrong with Fancy Feast
Include it in the rotation as often as you like
The Classic / Gourmet ones are the ideal ones to feed but feel free to rotate in some of the other Fancy Feasts on occasion (Gravy Lovers, Grilled, etc).

Too much liver in the diet can cause vitamin A deficiency but you don't need to worry if you are feeding something like "chicken and liver" and feed it in addition to other foods.

I agree. The Fancy Feast pates are fine to feed whenever and the other varieties as a treat from time to time. Mine really like the pates best anyway so it works out for me. I avoid the fish varieties because I rarely feed them fish at all. I think the chicken and beef feasts are the only pates with fish in them other than the varieties that actually have fish on the label.

Fancy Feast and Friskies have gotten bad reputations that they really don't deserve but I stick to the pates because I think they are the best from both brands and my cats (currently) prefer them. .

Okay, good to know! I'm glad that I found something that the cat likes and that I don't have to worry too much about feeding too much. (though I will continue rotating food)

From what I see on the label, the FF classics are a good quality food. They're not particularly cheap (60 cents for a 3 oz can) but they're easy to find and my cat likes them.

They aren't the cheapest but  they are good, easy to find, most cats like them and they have a good variety of flavors. You can save money on them by buying in bulk online from places like chewy.com, wag.com and petfooddirect.com. All of theses retailers have autoship programs that save even more. I think they all have free shipping at $49 or more

I'm curious, I know that your Lilith and Sophie are fairly picky, do they like FF classics?

Do you have a Wal Mart? Wal Mart's Special Kitty canned food is similar to Fancy Feast and costs less.

So essentially a generic FF? Is it grain free?

What is the price?

What size cans does it come in?

My feline gobbled down almost 3 oz of FF again. I'm going to have to check out the other FF classic flavors.

Cats are just strange sometimes. I put wet food in a bowl for my foster cat. She refused to eat it. Thankfully I still had a little Taste of the Wild dry food left. I sprinkled some dry food on top of her wet food and she happily gobbled down most of the food.

I tried Friskies pates with my young kitty and he eats them pretty well.

Finally my picky cat started eating Wellness turkey formula. Whew! More choices available! Wellness is very affordable if you buy it in the large cans. :)

Now that I'm a couple months into an all canned diet for my young cat, I've noticed his pickiness and grazing tendencies going away.

He now eats 4 Health turkey and giblets pate fine, as well as the Kroger grain free turkey canned food. He used to not even want to touch Blue Wilderness and he ate some of that the other day. He happily eats Wellness chicken or turkey. I tried the Whole Earth Farms duck pate and he ate it without hesitation.

I wonder if having kibble available was making him picky and not hungry enough to try anything now. Now that he's fed in meals, he is hungry when meal time comes and is happy to try what is available. He also eats a good sized serving instead of just nibbling and then walking away.

I'm very pleased with the improvement!

Yes no grazing is key, my cats were never into Turkey (unless mixed with liver) they like chicken, duck, rabbit, liver, and occasional fish
