I have been googling and googling, but cannot find anything on a cat's teeth doing this! She is almost two years old and I noticed this a few months ago, and they have continued to spread out more and more! I am taking her to the vet in a couple of weeks, but anyone have any idea what's going on??? Doesn't seem to be causing her any pain and redness...no trouble eating or grooming. Her sister has stomatitis in her mouth and has to get laser therapy. I haven't noticed ANY of that in her mouth...just these bottom incisors growing further and further apart and sideways...her top incisors and the rest of her teeth seem fine, but I have noticed her two middle top incisors being longer than her other ones?

I realize this looks like a hilarious kitty selfie, it's okay to laugh! lol

Nevermind, I think her entire grill is worse than I thought! Wow, I got both of these sweethearts from outside, they were thrown away kittens. I am assuming this is genetic, for both of them to have such problems with their teeth...I was finally able to make her stay still for me to see more about what is going on in there. I can only also count 4 bottom incisors, so I am wondering if she lost the others? I am just confused and so upset now that I am noticing just how messed up her teeth have gotten. I usually check every couple of weeks. I am going to start brushing her teeth like I do her sisters from this point on, I guess. I have 6 kitties, I am thinking it will be best for me to start brushing all of their teeth!

I've never seen a kitties teeth this messed up? They used to look normal up until a few months ago, and like I said, it seems to just keep getting worse and worse, OBVIOUSLY! Because her top teeth did not used to look like this either...

Definitely going to the vet soon. I am just so glad she is eating and grooming greatly and that she isn't in any pain with this right now.

Well done you for noticing this without signs of redness or bad breath to get your attention.

It could be that her top incisors look longer because the other teeth, and possibly her jaw as a result, are not in correct alignment.   If her teeth previously looked fine and the movement has only been in the last couple of months there is definitely something going on which you want looked at quickly to prevent further changes.  Because all of the teeth seem to be out of alignment in the second photograph I am wondering if there is an issue below the gum line, maybe with the ligaments that hold the teeth in place.  Your vet will almost certainly want to take a good look and investigate the cause.   With your other cat having stomatitis you may be right in there being something genetic for these young cats.

I hope the vet has some positive thoughts on what this is being caused by and how to prevent further problems or pain for your girl.  Would be very interested to hear how things go and what the vet says.

Thanks so much! It really upset me when I looked at the second picture. You know how kitties squirm when you mess with their mouth, so I had her pinned down in my lap and took the photo with one hand. I wasn't sure it'd be clear, but when I saw it and was able to really look and study, I was shocked at how bad it has gotten. I get extra money in a couple of weeks, just had a $1,000 vet bill with my other cat Oliver, so I will be getting her seen about on the 23rd or a couple of days after. I will definitely post what the vet says on here for you guys. I had googled and googled, but just couldn't find anything similar going on, so definitely eager to get to the vet. I am amazed she doesn't show any signs of pain or complications. She eats great, plays all of the time, grooms herself and all of her siblings. I always said she would be a fantastic mama (but of course, NO way!) all my babies are fixed! lol

Aww, sweet cat - mothering and caring for her siblings.   I hope she sometimes has a lovely grooming session from one of them in return.

Cats don't often show pain until it is very severe.  Mouse was very sick by the time he stopped eating.  He had gradually become more withdrawn and I was silly and didn't pick up the signs.   His gums, tongue and throat had very nasty lesions and secondary infections by the time I took him to the vet so it must have been going on for quite a while.     It is good you know to check things because of this little cat's sister, but it sounds like the vet care costs for your other cat are very high so really hope this issue is not similar.   Will be thinking of you and waiting to hear how things go.
