Where's the Whiskers?!

Mooni is an eleven week old shelter kitten. when she arrived at four weeks she was very fuzzy and had luxurious whiskers. Now that she is getting older her whiskers have been breaking off. At first I thought it might be because of the URI she had, giving the whisker hairs a weak spot ,but she continues to break them. As well, the fur on her front end has become quite short, while the other end is still fairly fuzzy. 

She is a very active kitten, crawls into everything indoors and out, so I am wondering if that might be part of it, plus the fact that our climate is very hot in summer. Is she just wearing out her coat? I know that coat length develops as they age, and I know she won't be as long-haired as some of my other cats, but I've never had one break her whiskers.

She gets premium wet and dry foods at all times.
