hi! So I have absolutely no cat experience whatsoever. I found this cat outside of my door today and I have no idea if she is pregnant or not. I plan to take her to the vet first thing tomorrow but I was hoping to get a little bit of advice ASAP. She seems to be super friendly but won't eat much. She has been drinking plenty of water though. If she is not pregnant then she seems to be really well fed which means that more than likely she belongs to someone around me. When I feel her belly it does not feel hard on some sides but if she turns a certain way then it feels a little harder (if that makes sense). Just hoping for a little advice!

It's difficult to know for sure in the picture, but the nipple picture does look like it could be a pregnant cat's nipple.

How big are her sides when she stands up?

What are you feeding her?

If she's this friendly she has surely been someone's pet prior to you finding her. When you go to the vet, be sure to ask them to check for a micro chip. If she has one, someone may be looking for her. And someone may be looking for her anyway.

You'll need to put up some flyers and ask around. And if she's pregnant, we need to know how far along. You may need to set up a nest for her and prepare for kittens in the meantime.

In the picture she looks very healthy. Does she have fleas?

She certainly looks filled out in your last picture. Like you said, she's either pregnant or well fed. If she turns out to be pregnant, she'll need wet food.

She's not presenting as a starving pregnant stray since she hasn't eaten much. We'll have to see how all this goes.

Thank you so much for replying!! I live in an apartment complex and I asked everyone in my building but they did not know where she came from.

I cannot tell if she has fleas, but I think she might by the dirt around her nipples. I brushed her and got an unbelievable amount of hair off of her. She still has all 4 claws too. She seems to be pretty dirty for someone to have as an inside pet.

The one and only time she was ever unfriendly to me was when I tried to gently check to see if she was a female or not. She has been jumping up onto my bathroom counter (not sure if that is common for pregnant cats?)

Ah, then it sounds like she's been living outside. You may want to ask around at the other buildings. She could be lost. Or she could have been getting meals around the complex and not really have a home.

It's nice of you to take her in.

Does she seem happy inside with you? Did you set up a litter box for her?

I have a litter box set up and she has already used it. I also have two small dogs and although she hasn't exactly been playing with them, she has not run from them either.

I have already made out some signs to put up. She was here last night too but I out a towel and some water outside for her since I have dogs but tonight I could not leave her out there again.
Especially not if she is pregnant.

If I had to guess I would say she's pregnant. You'll want to ask the vet to put a tube of Advantage on her to go ahead and treat for fleas.

Thank you so much for your help!! If she is pregnant should her belly be feeling a certain type of way?

I think you did right by bringing her in since she was still there. She clearly is looking for a home and a place to have her babies.

Her belly will feel heavy and round and somewhat tight. You might be able to feel movement on her sides by holding your hand there if she is pregnant. It depends how far along she is though.

She'll need kitten chow and wet food. Fancy Feast is a good brand. You'll need to set up a nest for her. And we have lots of articles on pregnant cats and kittens in our Articles section.

Let us know what the vet says tomorrow.

It also seems to me that she's pregnant, but not far yet as the nipples are still small? Her body seems normal sized to me :)
