I have a stray cat that's part of my feral/stray colony that i took to the vet recently because his ears looked really bad. They confirmed that he had a lot of bacteria in his ears and gave me some Tresaderm to put in his ears once a day for two weeks. They cleaned his ears really good, but today they look gunky again. They didn't ask me to clean them before applying the Tersaderm. Should i clean them out, if so what's the best way? Is there anything else I can do to help the ear mites clear up? I have some Colloidal Silver, 500 PPM that i used topically to treat one of my inside cat's acne, is that safe to use to clean out his ears? I was thinking about getting some Revolution from the vet. We don't have a flea problem here and he doesn't have fleas, but It's obvious he's had ear mites for awhile he has scars on his ears from scratching so much.

Thanks.

Sounds like the ear mites have returned! :( It is important to clean out the gunk before the next dosing of the drops. I use an ear solution made specifically for this purpose. I soak a cotton ball with the solution a little bit and gently wipe out the ear gunk. Then apply the drops, gently rubbing the base of the ear to disperse the medication fully. If the ears are not cleaned out properly in the beginning of each dosing then the medication is not reaching the mites. Revolution will also help clear the ear mites. I have used this in conjunction with the drops to really make sure I am quickly and efficiently eradicating the ear mites. :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes: for a quick recovery for your cat and thank you for caring for the feral/stray cats. :hugs: :hugs:

Thank you! I just cleaned them out with some diluted apple cider vinegar and water and they weren't as bad as i thought, so the medication must be working. I'm going to buy some ear cleaner though and get some revolution to help.
