Hey everyone :)

Me in my husband currently live in the Netherlands. (I know this is a USA fourm, but I honestly haven't been able to find any other cat/pet fourms in the Netherlands that are in English. Anyways, I have always wanted to open a  cat and dog pet shop and I have been thinking about starting with a online pet shop. My main question is where do pet store owners get their products, primarily the food. I see that many sites like alibaba have whole-sale on many different cat products, but not for well known pet food brands. Say if I wanted to see brands like Royal Canin, Applaws, Bozita, IAMS, Feringa, Grau, GranataPet, ect. Would I have to contact every single company/brand separately and order the brands 1 by 1? Or is there one or two factory/places that sell the different brands in whole-sale and you can buy everything through just 1 or two companies/people? Sorry for the newbie questions :)

Even though a large percentage of people here live in the U.S. there are members here from other countries.  Hopefully someone from Europe will have answers for you.  I know in the U.S. it's usually done with each company.  It's usually done with an agreement to be a distributor for that companies products.

There is actually one pet food company here in the U.S., Hounds and Gatos, that will only deal with independent companies.  They refuse to deal with chains or big box stores.  They are one of the really good foods too.

I do know that there are members here from other countries, but I'm not sure if they have knowledge about this type of thing. I really hope someone can help me out :) Wow that is a little crazy if you need to do it one by one. That means you have to contact and talk with 30 different companies if you want 30 different brands in your store.

I really have a lot of respect for Hounds and Gatos! I had no idea they only deal with independent companies and not major chains. That really is wonderful :)
