Hi I am new here.
I thought I would share a story inspired by Michael's story.
Back story: I have an eight year old inherited Devon Rex due to my Mother passing a few years ago. The cat (Princess Sparkles) seemed so lonely due to my work hours that I decided to get a male Devon Rex kitten. Sir Griflet arrived home on 06.01.2015 at age 12 weeks (after many months of correspondence with the breeder as to what she had and the best fit for Sparx and I). Below is an extract of an email I sent to friends (yes - I was more scared with this little boy than bringing home my own new born son!).
Anyway - I hope you all enjoy the story (fictional but based on fact).
Note: the reference to the Castle is a large Cat Tree and the reference to the Tent was an animal tent I bought to keep Grif safe if there were problems (yep - fail for me).
Day one
11:34 am (arrived at the Haven that is home)
Sir Griflet immediately disembarks from his carriage to greet her majesty Princess Sparkles with much joy and anticipation. Her Majesty shows her displeasure with this new small Knight by slapping and hissing at him.
{Three hours of hissing and spitting ensue from all three of us (me as their Trusted Advisor - but mostly not hissing, spitting or slapping from me for a change)}.
12:05 pm
Sir Griflet is at the bottom of the castle;
Princess Sparkles has retired to her cushion (purple of course) in her summer tower with the royal snits on.
02:46 pm
The Trusted Advisor left the keep for three minutes to address more important matters (OK – I went and had a cigarette!). When gone, Princess Sparkles decided to creep in to the forecourt (displaying true Robin Hood tendencies) and steal all Sir Griflet dry rations from his tent. No more I say!
04:28 pm
In true Knight fashion, Sir Griflet is now checking the castle for enemy intrusion as the Mistress of the castle is away having (as afore mentioned) a royal snit and retired herself to the summer tower {study}.
05:07 pm
Sir Griflet is now relaxing in the only castle's hammock, oddly with a pink lamb (who are we to judge!?) and taking a nap until the next melee erupts in the castle walls.
06:14 pm
Her majesty is extremely displeased with her Trusted Advisor (love my job; at work and at home the outcome is the same {sigh}) and is now spitting her displeasure!
06:21 pm
The Trusted Advisor is putting the kettle on – it is going to be one loooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnggggggggggg siege! <-That sentence is a bit odd because Her Majesty is the one besieging on her own castle and I need a glass of wine.
07:16 pm
HHHMMMMM. Now have a bleeding scratch on the inside of my nose courtesy of her majesty. That hurt just quietly....
Wish me well, my friends.
I will write tomorrow if I survive the night
