My cat, Chief is a 2 year old neutered male. He hunts in the field next door and has caught, killed and eaten several rats, I know

because he leaves what he doesn't eat on my doorstep. A few months ago he had blood on his chin and I thought he was bitten

by on  a rat. I put antibiotic cream on. He has had since then black specs  on his chin. At first I thought it was dried blood. Now it is small

like flea dirt and I can pick it off. It doesn't seem to bother him. I do not have a microscope but I don't think it is alive. It is consistent in size

and only on his chin. Does anyone know what this is. I can send a photo if I can figure out my phone.

It sounds like feline acne. I had 2 cats with it and both had the black specks. One of them also developed a secondary infection and needed antibiotic cream to clear it up. My vet recommends using the normal strength stridex pads to clear it up and it seems to work but you can't use it if there are any open sores. If it seems to bother him or if there is anymore bleeding I would def take him to a vet just to be safe.

What kind of dish do you use for food and water. My cat had this and I switched from plastic bowls to stainless steel. I also used the Stridex pads upon recommendation from the vet. It cleared and she never had the problem again.

I've also dealt with Angel having chin acne. Switched to ceramic bowls a few yrs ago, still got some, so someone here suggested also taking up his placemat, & that helped a lot! Unfortunately, he will still occasionally get it. Sometimes on his lower lip line, & sometime, under his chin. I always used some peroxide on a cotton round, & it worked pretty good. However, he has had 2-3 bad ones, cystic like, since spring that the peroxide wasn't working on, so I finally ordered some more colloidal silver (500 ppms), & put that on 3-4 xs/day as suggested by a member here. It works great. Poor baby, I know they were really sore & tended, because he will sit there for me, but will put his paw up & push my hand down & away, so I am just sure to be gentle. :) I also doubled up his lysine for a while, figuring it may also have some relation to his feline herpes.

Posted this from my phone, don't know how I got that pink font!
