Been trying to catch a cat for four weeks and she won't go in the trap. She has been in there before when we set it to catch a skunk & she will not go back in. She has a spay appointment this week and i believe she is pregnant.

I have cancelled about 4 appointments already since I wasn't able to catch her. She only comes at night around 8pm.

Is there a net or something I can buy to throw over her? She lets us get close and sometimes touch her. We tried to pick her up and put her in the crate but she scratched us and couldn't get her in.

Her appointment is Thursday morning so I don't have much time to figure it out!

Thank you!

I've netted cats with the large nets you can get in a sporting goods store.  The only problem is, when you drop them into the carrier, you have to cut the net so you can close the door.  But it works.

Is there a way you can borrow a drop trap?  They are usually better for trapping savvy cats.

Also, washing the trap with a good, strong enzyme cleaner will get rid of the skunk smell.  You may not smell it but I bet she still can.

Good luck!  I know how aggravating this can be.  It once took me almost two months to trap a cat.  She'd already been trapped and knew what was going to happen.  Fortunately, hunger wore her down!

I haven't seen them any in the stores, maybe I am looking in the wrong sections! Going to try sports authority and dicks sporting goods. Is it like a soccer net? Fishing? What section do u think has them?

Thank you for your response! Have to get her Wensday night so I have to get it tomorrow!

The ones I bought were fishing nets.  I've tried finding replacements for my frames but have had no luck yet.  I have three frames, so if you see a replacement, let me know!  Good luck!

Hope I can find something! Should I net her where she eats? She is very tiny and very very skinny I don't want her to be scared to come back to eat.
She comes 8pm every night. She eats really quick then leaves. I've tried watching in the cameras to see where she goes but still haven't been able to see. If I don't get her spayed this week I have to wait 2 more weeks and I don't want her having kittens!
Never thought it would be this difficult!

No real advice but i feel your pain! I have a mama cat that i accidentally trapped over a year ago when i was first figuring out how many stray cats i had around and testing my trap. I had to let her out because i wasn't ready to trap her and she refuses, REFUSES to go into the trap now. She's already had two litters of kittens and I've had to cancel so many spay appointments. I have another one for her at the end of this week, but the good news is she trusts me and lets me get very close to her, but not touch her. My plan is to feed her in my garage so i can trap her in a confined space, and then throw a towel on her and grab her.

Good luck!

Sounds like she really learned that lesson from the first trapping. I agree with the net or drop-trap suggestions. If you need help, you might get assistance from a rescue org in your area...rescues normally have the tools and experience to deal with tricky cases. Also, depending on where you live, your local animal control may be willing to help you trap her (and you take possession immediately so she doesn't go to a shelter). Good luck!
