If you need any help with it, let me know. To me, it's pretty basic, but a few people I know have had trouble understanding it. I think it's a LOT easier than Animation Shop.

Also the have spyware programs that see everything you are doing online and pop up adds pertaning to that. Ick. I didnt like it. YOu were really lucky to have gotten the correct version.
I can only echo that. I know several people who've had problems with spyware and/or viruses after using it. One friend had a big problem - her son was using Kazzaa, and all of a sudden when her 12-year-old daughter logged on, she was being sent pornographic pictures as emails. Turned out there was spyware. That's pretty scary.

Hey all, I also learned how to make them from video files. I just made my new avatar. Unfortunately the site's limit for avatar size is CRAZY low so it had to be pretty low quality.

Check it!

Oh the irony! I tried it last night and then today and I'm blank!
How'd you guess!
I can open gifs on my comp, but I want to be able to make them...like edit a photo or start from scratch and make banners and stuff for my site.

They warn you and there's a ton of agreements before you install it, I knew about it but I really wanted and (currently really need paintshop pro) so I thought "what the heck...I'll try it anyway". NOOOO way. That lasted about 2 days. After constantly getting popups and them basing them on where i've been(too creepy)...plus the viruses. Ick. I'm just gonna have to wait on paintshop...it's not worth all that.

It looks good. The avatars have to be low. There's sooo many threads here, picture attachments, plus people's signature images...it would take up way too much space on this site to make the avatars larger. That and something needs to be cut back. I'd rather have small avatars and large sigs. You could animate your sig pics.

Gothic,
The way the Gif animator works, is that you create each frame individually, then copy and paste each frame to the gif animator. From there you set how long you want each frame to run -you know, like in seconds-then you can view your animation - if you like what you see you can save it. You can also adjust for transparency ect ect. I make loads and loads of gifs, using that little animator. It takes practice, but once you get the hang of it, it's easy. Remember, you have to create the frames from another application, then copy each one and paste each one to the animator.

Thanks Hope. Will the windows paintbrush work ok? I just tried it but I cant trasfer the frames to the program because the format isnt supported. It seems to only support gifs...does this mean I'll have to convert all frames to gif everytime I go to make the animation?

I think I did it! It works on my screen in the preview. I took my current avatar and made it open and close it's eyes. It took 10 frames and wow that was easy...just not on my wrist!

You can copy and paste any type of photo to the gif animator. I do it all of the time. You have to copy the graphic/photo while it's in the application you are using to resize it or create it, then paste it to the gif animator. You don't open the file in the gif animator, you copy it, then paste it.

Nice looking animation there with the purple eye!

Two things I wanted to say though -

1. Please please don't offer pirated software here. Not only is it illegal it's also a violation of the terms of use of our host and could land us in trouble.

2. About file size. Yes, we do need to keep file sizes small, on avatars as well as signatures, as a courtsey to the many visitors and members who do not have access to broad band. It is possible to create great looking animations in small files sizes. It's often a matter of compressing your files (the frames of the animation) properly before you take them to the application that creates the animation. As the final result is going to be in GIF format, you want to turn them into small sized GIF files. I'm not very familiar with paintshop but on photoshop you have the option to "save for web" which lets you choose the degree of compression in either JPG or GIF formats while previewing what the result will look like.

As far as I know the gif animator is not pirated. It came as a stand alone application with some other program I purchased. It was just a free-be. You don't even need a serial number to use it. I'm not sure, but I think you can download it for free at Two Cows, but like I said, I don't know that for sure.

Thanks Hope...I cant believe I didnt figure that out myself *blush* It really helped to know that because I just made myself another avatar and tested it and it works. It really made it a smaller file doing that. Thank you so much for your help. You have no idea how happy I am now to have a way to animate things. All the animated things on my site were from free sites. I wanted to be able to have my site all origional and not be limited to flat avatars here either.
Thank you!
