Wicked and wild night here weather wise. Rained, snowed, iced, rained, snowed, iced then the winds came with a vengenance. About midnight we woke up to the sound of water running- my first sleepy thought was that the creek had finally made it to our door! I got up to look outside and my feet went "slosh...slosh..." There was water coming under our bedroom door! I didn't turn on the light, but I did grab a flashlight and opened up into the new addition, and a water pipe had burst from the washing machine! There was water everywhere. Not much to do about it either in 12 degrees and the new addition still partially exposed to the weather. So we crawled back in bed. This morning, the water has frozen over forming an ice pond, and Mike is out there now very carefully looking for the section of pipe that burst. This is totally insane, this weather! Totally freakin insane! Thank God last night I had the foresight to drop a couple of bails of hay for the horses. I couldn't get out there to them right now unless I strapped on ice skates!

Touch wood we have only had snow a couple of times where i live, but new years eve was really bad.

The worst month here is yet to come, february!.

Ouch Hissy!

It is now 18 degrees (-8C for those not in the US) Way toooo cold for my liking so I am staying in and staying warm.

Jake has decided to finish out school and if all goes well, ew will be home in August 2005. Hopefully that will give us enough time to save enough money to bring the cats with us. Board magic definintely needed for that.

It is time for Kahu's rabies shot so will be making an appointment for him. Thank goodness he is more relaxed about going to the vet than Peedoodle is, I don't another episode of that cat bite like last time. That was very stressful!

I will be getting on that bike of mine and riding some, hopefully it will warm me up as I cannot seem to warm up. Ack!

The cats are all full of energy due to that full moon, they are finally just settled down. Good heavens!

I hope everyone has a wonderful day and please stay warm ya'll!

Ice from burst pipes are the worst! That's horrible MA!

Root canal - now THAT gives me shivers up my spine!

I almost hate to mention that I'm having a good day - the weather is going to get above freezing for a change, got an extraordinary achievement award from my boss with a $250 bonus check. Woo hoo!

IA. If you need me, just meow..
It's the second to last day of vacation for me(WAH!!) I don't want to go back! I'm so enjoying NOT having to deal with idiots and stupid people!
Took Rocket and Luna to the vets today. Rocket needed his shots, and Luna ust needed a checkup. We found out today that Luna is allergic to cat grass. She eats it all the time and right after(and I mean RIGHT after) she pukes it back up. all this time I thought it was hairballs( she is a short haired cat) but it was her stomach saying that the cat grass is icky.
Poor thing and she loves to eat it too. Anyone got any ideas what I can use as a substitute?? I feel for all the other kitties too, they love the grass but I'm not going to put one at risk because the others love something. anyone? Ideas for some roughage for my kitties?
Root canal...((((shudder))))
I've beeen putting one of those off for a long time, now I think (since my tooth aches all the time) it's time to face the dentist. Let me know ho it goes ok?
Burst pipes? I'm sorry MA but all I can think of is the trips putting on little skates and playing hockey! LOL! My bad, I know it's not funny sorry MA!
Mom, CONGRATULATIONS!!!! I"m happy for you! whacha gonna buy the kitties? LOL!

Happy Hump Day everyone!

Hissy-Sorry about the burst pipes and hope you guys can get things back to normal soon. I know it's rough...hang in there!

Fluff-Take lots of medi and stay in bed!

It's in the 40's right now, and temp is dropping. We are suppose to get a storm tomorrow and that's going to make it colder..BrRrRrRrrrrr

I spent most of yesterday afternoon working on my loan stuff for school...but I am glad it is almost done and before I know it...school will be back in session. I go back in 2 more weeks from today.
I am enjoying my time off from it. I am going to start reading this book that a teacher of mine recommended about a year ago to me...it's: Dalton Trumbo's, johnny got his gun....I think I will do that today
I also need to work on getting moved out of my mom's house in the next two weeks.

YUMMMMY! We went to Ninfas last night and Don (Zack's friend) surprised us because he paid for it! What a nice gesture! He flew back to Ohio today, and they think they will hire him. I hope so! Because he is a lot of fun to hang out with, and I want to meet his gf...new friends for us! YEA! Anyway, tonight should be nice and pleasant. We are planning on making chili for dinner...that is on my diet. Didn't do too bad last night except I ate a couple of chips and some rice. One more week until I get my birthday cake--YEA! The BIG 22!!!

Have a great one everyone!

Oh! I am so happy to hear that! I haven't been able to get your distress out of my mind after reading that you might have to leave your wonderful cats. Reading this just made my day!

Mary Anne...wow! I can't believe the weather you are having. What's going on over there????? I think I am really spoiled because our winter has been relatively mild so far (though it was in the single digits last night).

Root canal.

Classes start on Monday, so I am enjoying the last few days of a quiet office and department. I love the students, but I love the peace and quiet even more.

I am trying to get last minute things done before classes start up because leaving campus and then finding a parking space upon returning can be impossible when class is in session. So, I'm keeping busy with lots of errands.

Oh, and I started today to try to lose 20 pounds....the 20 pounds I have put on since becoming chair of the department.
Sigh....

I went to the eye doctor today. When I got my glasses almost 1,5 years ago, I could watch tv and do stuff around the house without them, but lately it seemed like I needed them on all the time. Thought it might be just because I'm used to seeing things clearly, but thought I should get it checked out anyway. Good thing I did, had to get new glasses, vision got worse again. Hope it doesn't get much worse, I'd hate to be completely dependant on them the minute I get out of bed!

So that's 365 euros... If mom and dad couldn't help, no way I coud afford glasses. Well, picking out new glasses isn't too bad, get a change for how I look- and see!

First off, condolences to all you folks having yucky things going on...
I do not envy you your burst pipe, Hissy! That's awful. Hope you find the problem quickly and get mopped up.

Hope that root canal goes Ok, Fluffy's Mom. Been there, and as Rosiemac said, it's not really painful, just that your mouth is ooooooopen for a long time. YUCK!

Congratulations to MomofMany. Way to go!

For myself, well, yesterday and today have been (for us) extraordinarly yucky in the weather department. Would hardly raise an eyebrow in areas accustomed to real winter weather, but since we're not, fifteen flakes of snow causes chaos, mucks up traffic, closes schools, etc., etc. And on Monday we were promised 10-30 cm accumulation, followed by freezing rain...

All of which means that the school where I work has been closed yesterday and today. I should be rejoicing, right? Not with a student review coming up a week from today, and two days taken out of my time to prepare for it -- I do student records, and the grades for the fall semester were due on Monday (and mostly all were in, thank God).

We knew on Monday that closure was likely. So I was able to bring some stuff home that I don't need the computer for, or could do here and email to myself, but it's nothing like two days' work, and the rest....well, I really don't want to think about the next few days. SIGH!

Today's rain has washed a lot of the streets clean, but the UBC campus gets socked in worse than other areas as a rule, so I'm wondering what it's like. Surely it'll at least be possible to get around by now!! I hope. I'm rambling. I'll stop.

Happy hump day.

Curtains for the new Humane Society building and new sisal rope to rewrap the cat condos. Maybe I'll have enough to take us out to dinner!

Right here! :)
I have been like an elderly person today!

Last night we went to a bonfire, since this was the day of the hidden poeple, and we have "hidden people" bonfires, and also quite a lot of fireworks. Oliver really liked it, no matter where he looked, there was some fireworks going on, and the huge bonfire.
We had a lot of snow a few days ago, and then it rained a lot, and most of it melted, but then froze again, so these days we have frozen layer all over and in many places, water over that. So on our way back to the car after the bonfire, I slipped, with Oliver in my hands, and for him not to fall on the ground, I put my arm around his head, and then fell straight in my shoulder. Ouch!!!
So, now I cant lift my right hand from pain.

Today we went to check out some more sales for childrens clothes. I bought some stuff at the Italian shop I love, Iana, so now I think we should be fairly safe for the next months. I also borrow cloths from my friend, she has a boy 2 years older than Oliver, so instead of going to storage some of them go to me!
Very good plan!

In a month my sister is having a baby, and she will be using a lot of Olivers clothes, such a good plan!

I will not be buying any clothes for me untill I have shrunk a bit

Although I know tomorrow is necessary to provide answers about what might be happening with Racer, I am really dreading being separated from him. Being so spoiled having him since he was 4 months old and watching him grow up in our own backyard, I know I will worry about him constantly while he is away getting his tests. Makes me sound really stupid I know, but I am really going to hate leaving him at the vet barn. I won't be able to stay long- they don't want owners interfering, and he will be stressed and wondering where the people who love him went.

Movin' on up!
Nasty weather, burst pipes, root canals - I'm not sure that I want to hang outwith all of you unlucky people

We're still 70 and sunny, expecting 75 for the weekend.

You could tell that it was a full moon, today: cats crazy, dogs goofier than usual, strange calls at work (one person asked for the parts dept.), phone system went out and, 1/2 hr before quitting time, our main system went down.

Buddy and I had several disagreements, this morning. I wanted to wear a slip and HE wanted to roll up in it and play. Then, he decided that I couldn't lace up my boots, without his help. When I got home, he "helped" me unlace them.

Rowdy has been into everything and Bill says that she knocked the stuffing out of Buddy, for no reason. I noticed quite a few more Buddy tufts around the house. Opie has retreated to his spot, on top of the kitchen cupboards. Wise cat, he is!

Good news, for Bill. Another paving company approached him, today. They need a good mechanic and a shop foreman. The guy doing the hiring knows Bill AND his reputation. Bill is going over there tomorrow and talk to them. Things are SO bad, at the shop: no raise, for 4 years, no company contributions to his 401K, getting dumped on for everyone else's screw-ups. I hope that he gets the shop foreman's job. He's eminently qualified (40 years experience) and he does things right, the first time. It will mean more money and less stress, too.

Maybe, they'll have a job for Mark, too. He got laid off, this week. The poor kid really IS trying to make it. He goes to school, two nights a week, to get his electrician's papers. His company had just gotten a government contract, at D-M Air Force Base. This would have meant higher wages. They laid off 9 guys, total so, it wasn't just Mark. Somebody was probably making room for their buddies, on that job.

Ummm... Hissy? Got news for ya...this does NOT make you sound stupid...just a worried, and somewhat besotted
, Mom is all. Talk to him lots before you have to leave him...tell him how many people are pulling for him...what is it, about 5,500, didn't I see? Take care.
