Around 6 long weeks ago one of my beloved pet cats vanished. I rescued a litter of three some ten years ago and have two still. Brother and sister, never apart and never apart from me in all those years. They are the beloved cats of my old age, sleeping with me. They still act as if they were in the womb, sleeping curled into each other....The wee girl is the sweetest, most tactile and vocal cat I have every had, more so than the Siamese I bred  Both fixed  of course. Anyways, wee girl started staying out some nights. I am very isolated up here with no neighbours. Always came home and then when I was nursing my dying collie. she was away five days. Had I been more alert.... Then she vanished. The days became weeks.. No cat. I asked around, put posters up. We had the feeling she was still alive, that someone, maybe in a holiday let, had taken her in. I took in the feral girl anyways. Yesterday, I was ill abed and went out briefly to the door to check the dog, and heard a familiar WAAAAAAAAAAAAAIL and saw a familiar face outside the big gate.. Am I seeing things? When I went towards her she ran away. It is a mile long dirt track here. I went in, threw clothes on, put the dog in and grabbed a half empty tin of cat food and a metal spoon... Heart racing! Unlocked the gate and there was this speck of black at the far end of th elane... Made sweet music with the tin and spoon and slowly she came towards me.. called her, sang to her and then I HAD HER SAFE. I had not wept the whole time she was away but I did then. Carried her indoors and closed the door, telling her she is now an indoor cat!  She is thin, and clearly not eaten a long while as keeping food down has been an issue. Tiny portions and cooking rice for her now. All night she "talked" to me telling me such a story! When I called my family she talked to them too, her high pitched wail. She has to chin every part of you so it was a wild night! Happy? ecstatic.. we think she has been kept in by a holiday person and now they have gone home they have dumped her. There are no words for that.  She is asleep on my bed now, curled in a circle with her brother.. follows me everywhere INDOORS! So deeply thankful.  So now I can go round all the kind folk who put posters up telling them the good news..alleluia!

I am so happy for you

AND, I know just how you feel.  My little girl was lost once for 3 weeks, and I thought never to see her again.  This was years ago, and she is long gone now, but I still remember it to this day, hearing her little meow the day she found her way back home
