So Poptart finally got spayed yesterday (yay!) but when I picked her up this morning they told me it looks like she has "Pillow Paw" (Plasma Cell Pododermatitis) I have looked up about it online and it seems like it is rare... I was just wondering if anyone has ever dealt with this before? Was treatment successful?

I take her into her actual vet in a couple of days to have her checked out and checked for FIV since they said there is a "link" between the two :( I'm really worried about her...

However, she was so happy to be home and I sure missed her last night!

Every once in a while we have someone with a kitty who has this here, I don't know if anyone is currently here or not.  What I have gathered from the ones that have been here it is one of those things that is controlled rather than cured.   How well it is controlled seems to differ from kitty to kitty.

I think it's most commonly called Pillow FOOT.  Here's a pretty good article on it:  http://www.marvistavet.com/html/body_plasma_cell_pododermatitis.html
That was very interesting, thank you for posting it. I am not familiar with pillow foot/paw, but am wondering if L-lysine would be helpful in treating it, or in preventing a reoccurence after the antibiotics are finished. Since it seems to be related to an immunodeficiency, perhaps the same supplements given to herpes kitties and stomatitis kitties would be of some use? I am just speculating here.

Meowkittymeow, I'm sorry you and Poptart are having to deal with this. The article says it's not painful, but it certainly looks uncomfortable, the poor baby. I'm glad she's back home with you for proper TLC! Poptart looks is pretty and looks to be super soft, by the way! I love grey kitties. :heart3:

I think l-lysine works for the herpes virus by suppressing another amino acid which the herpes virus needs to replicate.  Pillow paw or foot would be more akin to stomatitis.  Something has triggered the immune system to attack the body.
