It's located in ear area above eye and also back of neck. How can I show you multible views? All areas start out with those small raised bumps as shown in that picture...then they join together and make an open scab.thus nest photo will show you what those neck bumps look like today
I can't diagnose, but it appears (in my opinion) to be either a serious dermatitis due to fungal or bacteria infection. Either way, your cat needs to vetted a.s.a.p.
Several months ago I had to take my cat to the vet because of an 'unknown' skin condition.
Initially, I noticed the area above Keeker's eye was puffy and slightly red; his eye was half closed. When I looked closer, I saw what appeared to be a scabbed 'dot' in the center of a
raised area about 1/2 the size of a medium grape. I wrapped him in a towel, then proceeded to flick off the scab and a moderate amount of purulent drainage flowed out. I cleansed the
area with warm soapy water and rinsed it. Then I noticed (after his hair was wet and I could get a better look at the actual skin) that there were a LOT of tiny little specks - they almost
looked like flea poop - of dried, 'pimple-like' scabs all over between his eye and going into his ear.
I grabbed both cats and headed to the vet.
To make a long story short, we determined that my boys (who routinely play pretty rough - like two cowboys in a bar fight) had a squabble and Kricket apparently bit Keeker on the head! That was indicated by the scabbed 'dot' (about the size of this asterisk ---> *). The scattered specks were the result of an 'unknown' dermatitis that came about from the cat bite! He was treated with Convenia (an IM antibiotic that stays in the system for about 65 days) to treat the bacterial infection from the bite, and TreasDerm anti-fungal drops for his ear (the fungus caused itching and it was close to/in the ear). It took about three weeks for it to completely heal and an additional week for all of his hair to grow back.
I have no idea when the bite actually happened because, as I said, they play rough almost on a daily basis. But I suspect it happened a couple nights before because they were getting pretty loud and I had to distract them. I do check them at least every other day now for bites or other signs of injury. I'm just glad I caught it when I did and got him treated!
Cat bites can be disastrous for humans; and now I know they can be just as disastrous for cats as well! Whether your cat was bitten or not, the infection/condition he has could be due to most anything from allergies to a bug bite. But, get him to a vet, please!
For a comparison, do the pictures below look anything like what your cat looks like when it first appears? These pics are from about 3 days after he started the medications.
