I have a 9 wk old foster and he seems to have a fast heart rate. He was dewormed about 2 weeks ago so he isn't ask bloated and I'm not sure if that's why I'm noticing this now. He's purring real loud too. Could this be normal? He just wants to cuddle more now

Kittens do have a fast heart rate at 200 to 260 beats per minute!  I wouldn't worry unless you've noticed that it's faster than it was previously or there are other symptoms (panting when at rest, labored breathing, looking distressed, etc.).

We took him to the vet last night and he is very ill. He has really bad pneumonia. They are giving him a 50/50 chance right now.

Don't give up hope! I adopted a 9 week old kitten "Zoey" in July who had pneumonia, e-coli and a staph infection. I was told to prepare for the worse but I couldn't give up on her. We went through more medical treatments than most humans but when you hear Zoey's very loud purr it made it all worth it!! [emoji]128525[/emoji] We're not totally out of the woods but as of last Wednesday Zoey's X-ray come back with no signs of pneumonia and her WBC was back to normal!! Not being a doctor I can only tell you what worked for Zoey. She was on Clavamox for nearly 6 weeks with Orbax for 14 days. Do know that Orbax is not indicated for kittens but I'm convinced that if my vet hadn't tried it in Zoey case she would not be here today.

Know that Zoey & I will be praying for you and the little munchkin! I can truly relate to what you're going through! Best of luck and please keep us posted!!

Oh dear
The good news is that it seems like they caught it pretty quickly.  And, hey, I've been the cat parent on the receiving end of that doom-and-gloom prognosis multiple times (with far less than a 50% chance at recovery or survival) and so far- *knock on wood*- it's always been wrong.  They have to prepare you for the worst but that does *not* mean you should be prepared for the worst.  A prognosis is never written in stone because every cat is a unique case; they can't account for the multitude of variables.  My experience says things generally turn out better than expected.

I'll be keeping both of you in my thoughts and sending healing vibes
your little boy's way.  Let us know how things are going when you get a chance.  BIG
!
