Hi everyone.
Please can you advise me. I've reserved two beautiful new babies - cornish rex girl and a burmese boy. They are the same age, 13 weeks and both being collected on Sunday!

My question is that the girl was spayed today (friday) - if I collect her just two days later will she be okay to be introduced to the boy right away? What is the recovery period for early spay and will it be alright to have her with another kitten she's never met so soon after the op?

Thanks!!

I think the concerning thing will be they they're both at that kitten stage and will want to play, so you will just need to make sure she takes it easy for another week or so until the wound is closed up so she doesn't pull the wound open or he rips the stitches out.
Perhaps introduce them, see how that goes and then keep their contact to a minimum until the wound heals. You'll be able to judge that yourself by the way it looks, but definitely a week or two.

I hope that helps and good luck with your two new babies! :)

I got my kitten two days after her spay (spayed at 10 weeks). She was fine and running around playing within a day of that. Maybe separate them for one day, then allow them to meet. Keep an eye on how rough they play to avoid any injury.

I have four kittens 3 males and a female. All were fixed at 12 weeks and were playing together with no issues within 24 hours of surgery. They are now 6 months old.

Your kittens may need a couple of days of being together and eating together, but being so young should cozy up to one another fairly quickly.

Oh thank you. I was just worried incase it was too many stressful events at once or if you risk the sutures being damaged by other kittens playing.
Good to hear other people had no issues :)

Could I just ask if when I get the new kittens, can I just put them together without first scent swapping etc? As they are so young is it OK to just bung them together?

You'll need to supervise, but since they've had litter mates and are still so young, they should be alright together pretty quickly, and happy to have a buddy. Let us know how it goes tomorrow.

Sure will, thanks for the quick reply. So i will just rub them both with my scent and then put them together and see what happens. My gut tells me they will be fine as they're such sociable breeds and both so cuddly with their own litter mates.

Update! I also have a bengal girl who I got last week and she's a month older than the new two. I've put all 3 in a room and everyone hates one another. Bengal is the least aggressive and the burmese boy wants to be friends but the rex girl is a bully! All she does is hiss and growl and swipe, especially if anyone else is in my lap. There's no actual fighting.. but they all hate one another. Will they ever be cuddled up together??

When you asked about putting them together, you did not mention a third cat. Now the dynamics have significantly changed.

The rex female is feeling threatened. She's not necessarily a bully. She's been recently spayed and is suddenly no longer with her own littermates, and now there is a strange female in the mix. You'll need to start over with proper introductions.

Perhaps she would make friends with the male alone as you had originally planned.

If not, you may need to take this issue to the Behavior forum for advice.

@sarthur2 I did originally plan to integrate the two and later intro them to the 3rd cat but I decided I'd just introduce them all. They are actually all tolerating one another now.. albeit from a distance. Maybe I can just leave it a little longer and see how it all pans out? You're right rex girl is just feeling threatened but she's slowly calming down.

It will take time for them all to acclimate to you, your home, and each other no matter how you choose to do it.

Yes. Which is why I just thought it better to intro all 3 at once. I'm sure they will work out their differences soon :) I'll post some pics

Was there a particular reason why you chose these three breeds?

They're just my favorite breeds! I've wanted them for years. The Cornish and burmese pet temperament in unmatched and they are both stunning. As for Bengals well, they're beautiful and equally as endearing. The bengal is my breeding queen.
