Hey everyone! I'm new to this site, and a new mommy to two 12 week old kittens. I love them to death. They are a brother and sister I affectionately named Ozzie and Harriet.
They have been great kittens... For the most part. Only minor kitty difficulties and training so far (I.E.biting, chewing blinds).
So, why I'm writing tonight is mainly because I have one minor problem that I cannot figure out. I want to be able to sleep with my kitties. They are crazy affectionate and loving 95% of the time, but the second my legs go under the covers in bed, they are solely focused on "killing" my feet. I've had to resort to just locking them out of my bedroom at night so I can get a full nights sleep. I've tried everything from tuckering them out before bed, to keeping toys in my room to occupy them if they really only want to play.

Is there any suggestions you have for me, or should I just keep on my path of kitty-less sleep?

Thanks in advance!

Hello! I recently adopted my own little kitten. She's 4 months old and does sleep with me all night. I think this is probably because she's a single child and doesn't have someone else to wake her up. Right before bed she often has a huge burst of energy and then tuckers out. In the morning around 5 am I do wake up to her chomping on my toes though, so I empathize. I've heard from many people who have naughty cats in bed that when they are eating your toes or keeping you awake, to sweep them off the bed in one big motion. Don't give them more attention- simply boot them out of bed when they're being rambunctious. When they're cuddly and sweet you can give them attention and maybe they'll learn that the bed is for naps and snuggles...maybe this is worth a try?

Hi, and welcome to TCS :wavey:

Kittens are exhausting creatures! You say you've tried playing with them before bed, but do they get a meaty treat/snack afterwards? The natural pattern for a cat is hunt-catch- EAT-groom-sleep. Eating the 'prey' signals the end of a successful hunt, so they are then ready to groom and sleep. A before bed snack is great for cats anyway, as it means they're not going quite so long between meals....and it also give you a better chance of a lie in ;)
