On Saturday 8/29/15 my cat, Meatloaf, had to be rushed to the emergency vet for a urinary blockage, they kept him until Monday 8/31/15 and sent him home.

However, a couple hours after being home he almost immediately reblocked after passing a plentiful amount of crystals (which I have kept for future reference), and was taken to a our family vet until this evening Today, 9/3/15.

I'm a very paranoid and worried pet parent, and have been concerned since bringing him home a little over two hours ago. Since arriving home he has both drank a plentiful amount of water, and even eaten a little bit of the dry perscription diet that they put him on.

However, hes been making frequent trips to the litter box and producing small dribbles of urine, none of which I have seen any crystals ontop or in. Hes even dribbled a little on my bed. Its taking him a little longer to pee then normal, and he begins to lick his penis afterward and has been tending to it a little bit, but not as much as when he was originally blocked.

They pulled his catheter around 2pm yesterday, and said that he was producing small amounts of clear urine and didn't seem to be having trouble passing it. The vet was able to manually express his bladder yesterday and earlier today without any issues.

I already know about diet and medication, and he has been switched to a perscription diet of wet or dry Hills Perscription Diet. C/D Multicare uninary formula.

Which hes been eating the dry of quite happily today.

Hes on an arrangement of medication including Prezosin, Robenacoxib, an oral injection, and subcutaneous fluids every other day.

My question is, is it normal for a male cat whose been blocked, hospitalized and cathed twice to show these behaviors? Is he sensitive? Raw?

Is it okay, and normal for him to be dribbling, making frequent trips to the little box, and licking his penis after such an ordeal?

If I see no crystals, and he has been sitting in his box peeing for atleast two to three minutes, should this be cause for concern? or could he just be sore?

What should I expect during the recovery process?

Update: After holding him and getting him to relax, Meatloaf released a decent bladderfull of urine on my, my dress, and my bed unfortunately. I am happy to see him urinate in that volume however.

However its strange he is just urinating while cuddling, and laying down and relaxing. Could this be from the catheter and sensitivity?

I'm still looking for advice an answers.

He's acting strange again today. Overnight he produced a large puddle of urine the larger then my fist on the computer chair (which i forgot about and sat in ewwwww).

He's eaten a little tuna this morning, the only thing I could get him to eat and has been hiding, going to the litter box with nothing coming out, and mostly laying around groaning..

I'm really worried and scared.

But he hasn't drank anything. Is the reason nothing coming out because hes not drinking? or could he be blocked after being cathed twice?

Mega :vibes: for Meatloaf's surgery! I don't have personal experience with it, but there's a 15-year-old cat at the shelter that had the surgery a few years ago and has had no recurrence of UTIs whatsoever.
