Hi :) I'm new to this site and I have signed up for a bit of help and info as I found a kitten that had been abandoned a couple of weeks ago. We decided to keep her as we fell in love with her as soon as we got her home!

Here's some photo's of Dixie, with her slim built and long ears were not sure what she is, can anyone help?

Also if anyone has any pointers for me that would be great, not had a cat before!

Thank you

Hi and welcome to TCS!

She's so cute! With no information on her ancestry we can only go by her looks.

She's a moggie, which is a fancy word for a cat with no defined ancestry.

She's a shorthair with a tuxedo pattern .

Super cute!

She reminds me very much of my Wanda they could be sisters!  View media item 290863

Aww Wanda is lovely! They are really similar! :)

Do you just have the one cat? Just wondered if it's reccommended to get her a friend as were both at work all day? I just don't want to take anything away from her personality, she's so playful and loving!

i'd highly recommend getting another kitten! 1/2 the fun of having kittens is watching them play together, snuggle and groom each other. if you are gone all day then your kitty definitely needs a playmate. i love tuxedo cats and dixie is very beautiful. with her triangular head and big ears she may have some siamese in her..

I was actually adopted by a momma cat that had kittens. I found homes for 2 and I kept Wanda, her brother Felix and momma.

As @ellag  mentioned, it's a lot better for them to have a partner in crime play. As she gets a little older, she'll become even more playful and everyone may not feel up to playing with her all the time, so having another kitten will help out a lot. Also, I'm sure she'll feel lonely all by herself during the day to the point she may start to cause trouble: scratching furniture, inadvertently knocking over things, etc. Plus, since she's still young, she'll adapt better to having a companion contrary to if she's older.

Wanda and Felix play together all the time, and momma sometimes joins them too! It's very cool to watch them play with each other while I eat or drink

How old is Wanda? Do you have any recent photos or is that last photo recent?

Definitely considering another now, thinking another girl a similar ago, would that be best?

Oh they're so cute! [emoji]128522[/emoji]

Dixie is around 12-14 weeks now and still really small! She doesn't seem to grow much either!

The new kittens eyes looked really blue, do they usually stay that colour?

Thank you!

Wanda grew up until her 3rd month, from there she continued to stay little. I actually noticed one time they were sleeping on the floor that she's the same length as her brother, she just has a very slim build and he's very muscular

Kittens are born with blue eyes and most change at about 6-8 weeks and settle at about 3 months of age.

Have you thought of a name for the addition to the family?

Aww :)

No, we don't have a name for her yet. Going to see her again at the weekend so hopefully we'll think of one then :)
