My cat Gizmo is a 1 year and 7 months old. I came home today and found him under the bed shaking badly. So I fished him out and sat on the couch with him. He was doing fine and had finally stopped shaking. He was stepping off my lap when he freaked out and ran across the room hitting everything on the way. When I found him again he was shaking and panting heavily. What happened to him?

It sounds as though something happened that frightened him while you were away.  See if he settles down in a day or two.  You can try some Rescue Remedy for pets or maybe a feliway diffuser to help him.

Well I brought him downstairs and put him in the kitchen so he could go to the bathroom. And he acted like he was in a completely different house, scared of everything. I can't get him to drink any water and he won't move from the spot I put him in. If I try to move him he freaks out and runs back to that spot. I looked around the house and can't find anything that would scare him that bad. He's been in the same house since he was a kitten, so he is used to the place. He also acts like he can't see certain things, like his favourite toy. I don't know what to do.

I would think a visit to the vet is warranted.  He might be not feeling well. Call your vet and schedule an appointment.
