I feel that our new little girl is so small for her age. She's been sick with the feline herpes virus but the vet said she is getting better. However, I feel she is so small still. She weighed in at 3.2 pounds today. Is this normal?

She has been eating a mix of dry and wet kitten food and occasionally steals bites of her older brothers food.

Kittens often don't gain as quickly when they've been ill. She's been treated, and it sounds like she's eating well, so she should eventually catch up :).

Yeah. I'm hoping so. We plan on transitioning her to a better quality food now that she is doing better too. We were told to wait before since she had so many other things going on. We typically use Merrick's for or adult kitty.

If you are changing food, make sure to do it slowly (so start mixing it, and add more of the new food every day until you are left with only the new food). Specially as she has been sick and still slightly is, you should be extra careful with the food change.

The weight is a little low, but the story behind it explains it. If you are worried about her weight, you can start with weighting her every other day, so you are sure she isn't losing weight and actually gains some. She should still grow and gain weight, so it would be good to monitor it if you wish.

Wishing you and your kitten all the best, I hope she'll be completely better soon and grows up to be a healthy big girl =^^=

Yeah. We are going to slowly do it. We have Merrick's dry food and Wellness wet food for her. She just seems so small. Especially compared to our adult cat.
