My cat loves to sleep under my bed and I was wondering if this is normal? I got him a cat tree to keep by my window with a little hidey hole in it but he still prefers the bed. Is this behavior because he is nervous or just because that's where he wants to be?

During the day he always out in the hall crying for love and pets but when it comes to for sleep or he is startled he goes under the bed. He will sometimes sleep with me on the bed for a little while but then will go back to his spot. Is there any cat furniture that could help?

It's perfectly normal. As long as it's not a dangerous place to be, you should let him sleep wherever he wants. My cat likes to be near me, but for a few hours a day he prefers to sleep under my unused recliner (this is a dangerous place for cats to be if the recliner is used at all) where he can be alone. Some cats need a sanctuary where they can just be alone by themselves. It sounds like your cat has found one.

When my cat is under my recliner or under my bed, I leave him alone. I don't interact with or talk to him. When he's ready to socialize, he will come out and snuggle.

My cat Sophie is always looking for a new "cave" to hide and nap in. She loves the pantry and will try to get in there whenever she can. She also loves the spot on top of the TV stand in the living room behind the TV. We call it her fortress of solitude. This is normal for cats to do. My other cats Lilith and Henry don't seek out "caves" like Sophie does but will occasionally go into the cubbies in the cat tree. it's not personal. They just like to have places to nap where they feel secure.

Yes, it is safe for him. The only issue I foresee is if you ever need to get him out of there. I mean if, in the future, you may have to take him to the Vet or even give him medicine; he will run right under the bed because it is his 'safe' place. You would then have to get him out of there, somehow---like using a broom..

Artie loves 'tents".. A folded quilt which he hides in-between the folds.

As others have said, it's perfectly safe. Although I'd do some vacuuming and cleaning, maybe put a nice blanket under there for him. My cat did that in the beginning when I first adopted him and I put a blanket under my bed too. Now he doesn't go there anymore since I've given him a window seat which he prefers more.

If you really don't want him under there, I'd block off the space and find him other things to be inside but otherwise, letting him be sounds like the best idea since he is so social during the day.
