Hello! This is my first post so i'm sorry if I make any mistakes.

Anyways, I adopted my new 8 month old kitten about 4 days ago. She has been acting very normal since I got her. Suddenly tonight she has had 2 soft poops, all her previous poops were normal. The first one (sorry if this is TMI) sounded very gassy and there was barely anything in the 2nd one. She doesn't seem to have any discomfort though. I am feeding her mainly high quality wet food with some of the (low quality) dry food she was eating at the shelter ( mixed with a new higher quality brand) as a snack at night. She has an appointment for her 2nd deworming in a few days. Do you think she has worms? If she does will my other cat get it since they share a litter box? I do have 3 litterboxes set up in different places but they like to share
.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and I look forward to posting more on this site!

Hi and welcome to TCS!

It could be food related but until and if that is established you need to rule out medical causes, which given that she just came from another place (shelter, other home etc) is likely, so i would make a vet appointment (a good idea anytime you adopt to get a baseline exam) and I would bring a stool sample.  It could be worms, but it could also be a parasite that is contagious (to other cats and to people) like Giardia or Coccidia.

Are you feeding the same food she had in the shelter and what food(s) is that?  And how often?
