I am feeding my cat commercial raw food.  Started with Rad Cat, will be switching over to Primal & Instinct.  She always wants taco chips when I eat them.  I think she is after the salt.  I thought feeding her raw she was getting everything she needs.  Should I be adding salt to the raw.  By the way she loves the raw.  When I don't have it & give her Tiki Cat she doesn't eat it right away.  Looks at me like "is this all you have?".

No, you do not need to add salt or anything to commerical raw food.

I don't think a cat needs salt in their diet. If they do, it's only a very very small amount which the cat food will have. Your cat may just like the taste of the chips, that's all. Chips aren't healthy for cats to eat so I suggest not giving her any no matter how much she begs for them. Giver her a cat treat instead.

Rad Cat is formulated to meet AAFCO nutrient recommendations so as far as can be known you shouldn't need to add anything to it.

Maybe she just likes salt.

One of our cats also likes to try to steal chips, crisps, and savory grain-based snack foods of all sorts... I suspect it's the smell that gets her: the cats had a big preference for dry food when we adopted them!

Thank you all!  Horses need salt blocks but I had never heard of a cat needing one.  Just was worried because raw is not canned with things added.

Actually a raw food like Rad Cat does have things added just like a canned food and for the same reason: To meet the AAFCO nutrient recommendations.
