Hello, I am wondering if I can get advice? I adopted a rescue kitten from a couple that found a kitten in the road. Both his eyes were crusted shut when they first found him. The day I adopted him, I took him to the vets and he was treated for an upper resp infection, ear mites and they put on Revolution preventative. He is app: 10 weeks now.

I am not used to cat behavior, I had a lab/shep for 12 years and lost her to cancer last year. I noticed when I adopted him last week he seemed more affectionate and less so now and I worry that he is becoming more anti social because I am gone during the day at work.  I have also noticed that he seems to be afraid of my slippers, although less so. He also seems to be afraid of my glasses. I wear glasses for seeing the TV and computer.  I have him in one room and also wanted to know when and how long do I keep him in one secluded area?

Any advice on kitten and cat behavior would be greatly appreciated!!

First, did the meds work and is kitty feeling better, free of infection mites, fleas and the likes?

Ernie goes back for a check up tonight. He seems to be on the mend.

Well I would continue to keep him confined until after the vet check tonight.  Just to keep any infection or other undesireables confined.

Next question is whether he is using the litter box appropriately.  If he is, then I would start letting him explore.  Not sure about the slippers... but I imagine you do look different with our without your glasses... or maybe someone with glasses was mean to him.  Cats are wierd.  When you first got him he was probably scared and didn't feel good had no energy to escape your affection.  I take his new found independence to mean he is feeling better, has more energy and more confidence.

That saying that dogs have masters, cats have slaves is sorta true! They can be very different animals.  That being said, my cat still greets me at the door when I get home, and in general are pretty social.  Do you have toys that you play with the kitty with?
