Kitten is about 4 months old and although there are some tussles with the big boy they seem to get along. The problems start when you realize she hates being alone.

I recently had a New bed built. A king sized loft. I told the builder I wanted to do any painting or staining myself and as a result it took two months to get it assembled and stained .

Fast forward...I've been using the bed about a week now. Two days ago my big boy figured out how to get on and end table and leap up to join me. Kitten can't stand being alone so she.tries to.follow and.can't. Enter claws. Trying to climb up to meet us,she doesn't have the hind leg strength of her brother and either tries to climb the ladder or climbup the supports for the mattress, usually getting stuck between the matress andsupportss.
As a result Tue brand new bed is already getting significant scratches in the wood. I was hoping covering her claws for now would protect my furniture until she grows strong enough to just leap.

Can anyone advise?

I would suggest keeping her claws trimmed so they will not penetrate the wood and then devising some simple little wall shelves spaced so she can climb up them like stairs.  If you can carpet them, all the better.   know Ikea sells such shelves, and you can get lots of ideas by searching for "catification" in Pinterest.  There is no reason to leave the poor thing unable to join you, lonely and frustrated on the floor.  Be creative!  You can stain them and make them match your bed, spacing them like stairs up the wall.

Here's a photo done with reclaimed barn boards:

Check out the photos here and you may get some other good ideas.

The bed takes up the whole wall. I had actually thought about that but I can't figure out where to place them so they can join me.

I'm horrible with nail trimming .I get nervous I'm going to hurt them and make them bite and start shaking .I generally just let them scratch on a lot of things to hone them down instead .
I'm planning on wrapping one post in rope to give them something to grip. it just may take some time.

Hmmm. Looking around the room again. There may be one option but it would wrap around. Look at the pic...

If I start on that wal straight ahead and put shelves above that door to wrap around the corner... That might work. I wonder how high I can start them though.

I was carrying her up, but she either picks a fight with big brother and gets mad when he sits on her or looks over the side and gets scared then climbs back down, only to realize she hates being down there alone lol and climbs back up again. Do you think she'd even use a shelf system set up like I'd have to?

They are just guard rails, and honestly it's been such a week, I haven't attempted to make it other than putting the sheets on. Classes started after a real rough weekend working night shift, while kids were still on summer vacation.
