Hello all,

Since about a week ago I noticed that when I pick up my 5 1/2 month old baby girl and turn her on her back she made these tiny wheezing sounds. I though it was because she was belly side up, so I stopped doing that.

Yesterday, I picked her up and she lay on my arm as I carried her through the house. When she had enough I set her down and noticed she has left a small goop of poop in my hand where my hand was about her butt position. She had never done this.

Upon closer inspection, I found that it was a mustard-like color, soft and a little bit glossy, there was also a side that was like mucus and had a bloody tinge. I picked her up again, raised her tail and looked at her anus and there was nothing stranger, dripping, dirty or weird on the outside. When I pulled her tail more I think I saw a little goop by she didn't like it so she tried to squirm away and I set her down.

I'm going to take her to the vet today after work since I can't take time off.

She has been spayed. Since the vet said people don't usually ask for cat vaccines he had to bring them specially for me but he sold them away  in an emergency when someone needed to cross the border with their new found kitten (I had been calling every time he said they would come in for almost 2 months!). Anyways, this means she's only gotten her de-worming.

I'm very worried for my Princess Wanda, she's the runt of the litter and she hasn't grown as much as her brother. She has stayed tiny for the last 3 months growing very slowly.

Any idea what this could be or what I can do other than the vet to help her?

Thank you very much for reading

The most likely culprit for the poop is giardia or coccodia (sp?). With the breathing - is she showing any other symptoms? A URI is the first thing that springs to mind. I really hope that whatever's wrong isn't too serious and is easily treatable. I can't offer any advice other than the vet appointment at the moment. Do check all the others though - all the things I've mentioned are easily passed between cats. You need to be sure that none of the others are showing any symptoms. Ask the vet about how contagious/infectious Wanda is likely to be, and what to look for in the others. I hope the vet visit goes ok (and that they're able to get some more vaccines in for you soon). :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes:

Thank you for the information.

Google Imaging them, It may be "coccodia " her poop looks more like this picture.

I've hidden the image as it's graphic.
He stool was the same color and a little harder than the harder looking stool in the pic. (Example, if on a scale of 0-10, 2 is the softest in the picture and 5 is the hardest stool, Wanda's was about a 6-7). The streak and small (clot?) of blood looked encased in clear mucus.

Reading up on the link above, the fact that the last couple of weeks we've had a heat wave came to mind. They also hunt and eat mice, but the kitten had their deworming, so I didn't think much of it.

They aren't overcrowded since they are indoor / outdoor kitties. The door to the house is open at all times so they enter and exit the house whenever they want. They poop in the litterbox, it is outside and it gets cleaned often, the kitties sometimes like to poop in the dirt around our house.

I may have chosen the wrong word for her breathing. I would call it "Shallow breathing". She makes this "hhhh-ck-ss" sound every 10-20 seconds when she's belly up only. I noticed her brother Grinnie has it as well but he has no problem with the poops (that I've noticed). Momma cat has always had a raspy voice so I don't know about her.

The vet gave his word he would have the standard vaccines tomorrow at noon or so. Due to the nature of my work I have to stay a little overtime. So I'll call the vet to see if he can stay a little late, he sometimes does.

Well,

I got out of work later than expected and the vet had to go home, he said since no more problem stools had been spotted, I could just come in today for the vaccines / checkup. My mom was watching the Kitts during the day and she saw no more weird stools. The kitts have a healthy appetite and are as playful as always. So no more issues so far. I already talked with my workplace about having an appointment today so I can't stay overtime.
