male cat trying to mate with female cat?

i ask this for a friend. her male and female cat are expecting kittens soon. she was in her dining room when she heard a howl like a cat fight for a split second. she looked up to see her pregnant cat chasing the male cat across the house. and upon inspection he had a huge tuft of her fur soaking wet sticking out of his mouth. he has been making the meowing sounds of a cat trying to get a female in heat. the pregnant cat. the pregnant cat has very long fur she she cant tell where he had pulled the fur from. after the quick episode of what she witnessed, they went back to normal like it didnt happen.

It sounds like your friend needs to keep the two cats separate for the time being. I strongly suggest that she get the male neutered ASAP. It's the only way to stop this recurring. Momma cat needs spaying too, but that will have to wait until the kittens are a few weeks old.

she got both cats from someone who was trying to give them away. the female was pregnant when my friend got them. shes scheduled an appt to get the male fixed. atm she has confined the female to her bedroom and put food and water bowl and litter box in there.
