Hi There, I am just wanting general advice on this. I have a cat which i got from the SPCA about 2 months ago. She is a really lovely cat and enjoys sleeping in my bed alot. I go away every weekend and have been leaving her by herself. She always has sufficient water, food toys and litter boxes (until a cat door is going to be installed) and i set up activities for her before i leave. But i am just wondering is it cruel for me to leave her alone this long? It makes me sad to leave her but unfortunately i visit my partner in a different city therefore i cant always be there with her.

I have looked on some sites that say they go away occasional weekends and the cat is ok, but i do this every weekend.

Thanks heaps in advance for your advice!

Do you have any friends who would come over and give her some love, sit on the couch and watch tv or something?  That would be the best thing.  Are you away all day Friday through all Sunday or just Saturday and Sunday?  Can your partner visit YOU sometimes instead of you always going there?

Also installing  cat door and letting her out when you are not home is not a good idea.  If anything happened to her, if she got injured and came home for help no one would be there to help her.  It's best to keep her inside, although you could "catify" your place a bit and maybe even build her a "catio."  Go to Pinterest and search "catification" to get some great ideas.

Is your cat adult or  akitten?  If a kitten, she might like company, another kitten.  If older, however, she is probably just fine alon and might not like another cat to come into her space.
