How long can freeze dried stay down for?

Okay, after doing some more research I think I'm going to transition my cat to freeze dried raw (at least to start!) from canned wet food. Hoping to get my little guy healthier!

Question... sometimes I do go away for a long weekend (but not often). I'll have a cat sitter come twice a day to feed my boy in the morning and at night. So, the cat sitter isn't the problem!

My problem is that my cat usually takes an hour or two to finish his wet food. Can freeze dried (and rehydrated) food be out that long? I know I've read that frozen raw shouldn't be out for more than a half hour.

Any advice appreciated! Thanks :)

I think dry freeze dried raw would be ok for that long. Rehydrated raw not so much.

Thanks, LTS3! That's what I was thinking too. When my guy used to eat dry food he'd drink a lot of water but now that he only gets canned he barely touches water. I worry if I leave non-rehydrated freeze dried that he won't drink enough water. But, maybe if it's just for 2 to 3 days he'd be okay. I'll keep researching!

It'll be fine
Many people find that their cats don't drink very much water out of a bowl since they're getting most of their water from the canned food. Some people add extra water to the canned food, too.

Maybe you can get a programmable timed feeder for the cat sitter to use. I like the Petsafe 5 compartment feeder. It works great for canned food and you can even put dry freeze dried raw in it. You can spread out meals that way. The sitter would just need to fill the compartments in the morning and check again at night and the next mornng wash the tray and refill. The Petsafe feeder has a digital timer so you program in the meal times once and let it run
