How's Pixie today?
Not sure...He nose started to make more noise again. Might have something to do with her sniffing out a cup of hot water on my coffee table and probably getting some of it up her nose. Not sure if she got any in there, but she sure reacted. Her nose, on the outside, seems fine. I just hope she didn't burn herself. She was fine right after and continued playing, but there seems to be some secretions.
She might be eating a little bit less since then, but barely. She is still eating a lot more than last week.
We're having a heat wave and i think the A\C is affecting her. She doesn't get fresh air from her window watch point. I totally get it, i don't like closed windows either.

You could be right about the A/C and dry air - might be worth trying top humidify a little with bowls of water or whatever (I have the oposite problem here and have to use a dehumidifier).

I hope the hot water hasn't scalded her little nose.
Keep an eye on her to see if there is any sign of swelling or skin flaking, but hopefully she is fine as lips are one of the few areas a cat does feel heat with so chances are she pulled back in time.

Have you considered that she might be ivermectin-sensitive, and that Revolution contains a drug in the ivermectin family that she really does not need and may in fact be contributing to her problems?  You said she is getting better now but her next dose of Revolution is due on the 17th, so she's about 3 weeks since the last dose, right?  And she is suddenly getting her appetite back.  If she is sensitive to it, that will send her back into low grade nausea, not eating, and lethargy which will take another 2-3 weeks to clear.  I would suggest NOT doing Revolution again and seeing if she continues to improve, also checking your calendar and seeing if her flare ups coincide with when she got Revolution.  Use something without any drugs in the avermectin/ivermectin family if you need flea control.  Just plain Advantage or Advantage II is fine, but don't use Advantage Multi.  I am not saying this IS the problem, but because of my kittens bad experience with it, I'd certainly consider discontinuing it to see if she does better without it.  She does not need a drug with this many potential side effects IF she is one of the sensitive ones.  Only about 1 of cats are sensitive, but if yours is one of those, as mine was, Selamectin may result in these side effects:
  • Lethargy
  • Loss of appetite
  • Drooling
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Muscle tremors
  • Ataxia
  • Fever
  • Rapid breathing
She may just be sensitive enough to get the first two symptoms, but she doesn't need to go through another two weeks of that if the Revolution is causing it.  Here is a recent thread in which we were discussing this:  http://www.thecatsite.com/t/305444/sudden-onset-feline-hyperesthesia

Poor little baby. If it's not one thing it's another.
Does she have to have regular flea treatment if she doesn't go out?
I hope she starts eating properly again and playing. Keep in touch.

@MServant  Her nose seems fine. I still give her steam therapy twice a day in the bathroom, safe in her carrier. I worry that she might have burned the inside of her nose though. The noises increased after the incident. Did not see what happened, i only heard a loud sneeze like sound, saw she had her face in the mug, and she ran away immediately. Now every time she comes near the mug (i have a boil on my face that needs to have warm compresses on it several times a day...) she squints and gets away from it.

@Stewball  Been thinking of not giving her the next dose of Revolution, but now i think i'll defo not give it to her and go with the Strongid . I hope the 2 doses will have been enough to get rid of the fleas. Don't think my flat was ever heavily infested, at least i hope so. She had no fleas when i first took her to the vet, but there was evidence if fleas 2 weeks later at a visit for another problem. Being a laundry maniac, i hope the times i vaccumed and washed and laundered since then will have been enough. I even changed my vaccum bag.

She is back at not eating much today. She probably eats enough, but i like it best when she eats like a piggy. She was still pretty active today. Active an annoying. Wonder how long i will have to suffer her foot obsession. Nothing works. I usually have to put her in the bathroom in order for me to do dishes without her eating my feet and getting more excited as i moan and jerk my feet.
I also find it strange (and yes, annoying) that she keeps bugging me when i eat. I eat on the couch, and she keeps getting in my food. And smelling my face. She even slapped my mouth.
Back to work tomorrow, ust for one day this week. I hope she doesn't get stressed therefor sicker. I feel kinda worried leaving her, which makes no sense cause i come home for lunch so she wont be alone for more than 5 hours.

If you think she still has fleas, isn't advantage better? Well I've never heard of the other one you mentioned.
Is she a foot biter? That's sad for you. Cats are naturally curious remember? So she'll want to see and smell what you're eating.
Whisky actually drank some of my milk from my bowl of cheerios while I was eating. That doesn't bother me actually. I don't mind sharing lol.
I'm sure she'll be fine being alone for 5 hours. Don't worry about it. She'll feel if you get edgy.
I hope she eats like a piggy for you.

Pixie sounds very cute - a lively and curious kitten in to everything.  I gave up eating cereal when I had my two tabby girls because one of them (Pal) would inevitably manage to paw my breakfast off the spoon before it reached my mouth.
I took to having toast which I had to break the crunchy corners off and throw for them to chase around the room - that kept them busy and I got to eat the rest in relative peace.

Can you divert Pixie when you are eating so she gets the idea it's play time and other things are more fun?  If she has a favourite toy you can offer or something? Either that or feed her something at the same time.   If I needed to keep Mouse off something I was doing, like lap top or some drawing, I had to be playing with something like DaBird at the same time so he was diverted and not pestering - I would have to put effort in to his play too or it didn't work.    I'm lucky he doesn't like human food - he's more likely to pester and scrape around me telling me to put my stinky human food away than get up close.  I would also throw bit of his dry food for him to chase after and eat.

Fingers and paws crossed for her little nose.

I don't know about Advantage, but i know i can't afford it :\

Feet, yes. This morning she wouldnt let me floss and brush my teeth. Sometimes she dives under the covers at night to get to my feet. Grrrr....I think she is teething.

Pixie owns my place. There's toys all over the place, she eats fancier than i do, and she is why i can't have nice things right now. I love her, but i.draw the line at getting in my food! I have a pic somewhere of evidence of malarkey with my spaghetti when i left a bowl for 2 minutes. I was thinking, wow, this is great, i can now leave my food to go get a drink and there will be no stealing (my dog used to do that...) but nope, cats get all in it too.
I found a bone in my faitas on my lunchbreak, so i gave it to her. I held it, cause i didn<t want her to go hide with it and choke on it, but she nibbled it clean in no time, like she hadn't eaten in days. My instinct have told me before this one wants 'real' food. I think she is made to eat bones like a true feral cat. It gave me a preview and i don't think i'll have much trouble getting her to eat raw meat and bones one day. Also, she oddly loves corn bread.

Years ago, when my late Lotto was still hale and hearty, I made me a salad of different veggies and I put a dollop of houmus in the middle. Lotto didn't like human food. I left the salad on the table and went to get a drink. When I got back lotto was tucking hungrily into the houmus. My vet said she'd never heard of a cat liking houmus.
Needless to say I finished off what he left.

That will be pasta-paws' mark of approval I take it.   Nice.

Try having hot feet for a bit with nice thick socks on plus thick bedding so you can ignore the toe chewing - she's more likely to get bored of it is she doesn't get any reaction out of you.   It doesn't take too long to train them out of it usually and well worth it.  Oh, and you need bed covers that tuck in all round so no paws and teeth can get in under the covers.

The thought of that makes me sweat. we're having a heat wave, so thick socks and the likes are not very appealing to ME

I tend to let my feet stick out from under the covers even in winter. Imagine now...i don't even want covers, even with the A\c on full blast. Ah, the joys of pre-pre-pre-menopause. Or menopaws.

Pixie still eating like a bird, but she is eating on her own at least. She is very active, so maybe that's just the quanity of food she needs for her system.
Not losing any weight, from what i see. Still some noise coming out of her nose. Last night she was playing in the kitchen while i was trying to sleep and the noise she made was horrible. Loud succion noises. I guess it doesn't bother her too much, from her general state. Should get the lactoferrin any day now. Maybe that will help.

I'm glad all these people who know more and have more experience with FHV etc. are answering your questions...I was afraid to suggest the wrong thing (e.g. maybe I stressed the FIV/FeLV test too much?).
Sounds like Pixie is doing better too!

My experience is that sick kittens can cost A LOT up front, but the running costs go way down once they are well. Flobwurst was very sick when she arrived and cost me almost $1000 within two weeks. Now she's healthy and affordable. She had to be segregated from our other kitten for about a month though and developed a foot pouncing habit during that time. (Kittens need to wrestle so she was trying to wrestle with my foot.) I used the "scruff and hiss" technique on her for that and she stopped almost immediately. I did also redirect her attention immediately to a feather wand....discipline alone apparently doesn't work...

Best wishes for Pixie.

Your message passed through the cracks it seems, and i just saw this.
I stopped counting at 1000$ in two weeks, and my vet gave me stuff for free, thank the gods. I'm so broke, and when i look forward to getting regular pay again in a few weeks, it don't really matter as all the extra money will go to shots and sterilization. Gah...Hopefully she will be happy and healthy from then on.
Pixie is horrible with the feet thing. Used to be only when i was in bed, but now it's anytime anywhere. I scruffed and hissed this morning cause i was soooo fed up, but she got even more aggressive, wich means she got nervous, wich means i felt bad.
She will get her FIV FELV tests when i get her neutered.

Finally got my Jarrow Lactoferrin in the mail, and will put Pixie on it starting tomorrow morning.
She is on 250mg twice daily of Vyralis (lysine), and from i remember reading, i should give her 250mg of lacto split in two daily? Is that right? 250mg lysine + 125mg lactoferrin in the morning, and repeat at night?
Just want to make sure i have my stuff straight.

Reminder; Pixie is a little over 3 1\2 months old and weighs 4 lbs.
(and she is very cute)
