We recently got a new kitten and he has adjusted very well so we are thinking of letting him into the rest of the house permanently. He currently allowed out when there is someone home and put into the base camp room when we go to bed.

The main problem is that we can't leave him out at night as he eats our resident cats prescription food and it could make him I'll. We hand purchased a special bowl for the resident cat but until he gets used to it is it ok to leave the kitten in the crate overnight in the living room? He currently was staying in a bedroom but as he is awake some nights it can be hard to sleep. (Our cats don't usually sleep in the bedrooms)
Thanks in advance for any help!

Personally I would say it's ok to leave him in the crate over night. Maybe instead you can leave him in the bathroom if you have a larger one so he doesn't feel so trapped.

But no, I am sure he would be fine if you leave food and water. My only concern would be if he he has to go. I don't know how big your crate is but I doubt you can fit a litter box.

The crate is more like a large dog cage we originally got to put resident cat in when he had knee surgery so it fits a litter box, bed and food bowl comfortably :)

Thanks for the help!!
