I live in an area where there are a couple stray cats that wonder, i see them every now and then, one in particular i always saw at a distance and never came up to people. 2 days ago when i got home from work she was rubbing up against my door mat and door. When i walked up to her she wrapped her body around me and continously meowed at me. Which is weird because they arent people cats! Well she is HUGE i can see the kittens moving around when she is lying around and her back is arched inward. The hair around her nipples has fallen out and they are enlarged yet do not have milk yet. Also her anus seems enlarged or swollen and is very red! Her coat seems okay, she has no fleas and she is eating like crazy which i assume is because she hasnt had good food. I have whelping areas set up, kitten food and plenty of water out, and the whole shibang.
Now, today she has been acting very clingy, meowing any time i move or try to leave, and tries her best not to get up, she likes laying on her side.
No discharge yet, and she doesnt seem to be 'nesting' though she is avoiding jumping on the bed or high places as best she can.
Is her strange behavior mean she is close to labor? View media item 294911

She sounds pretty close.  You can see the kittens moving 2 - 3 weeks before delivery.   Watch for the mucus plug, then the water.  She will be restless and uncomfortable and you may see pre-labor contractions which can happen up to a week before she gives birth.

Here are a couple articles you may find useful.  There are other more specific articles at the top of this forum.

She sounds ready to pop any time now. Can you bring her inside the house? It's much safer for her and her kittens.

You should apply a warm compress to her anus. Her glands may need expressing or it may be pressure from the pregnancy, but either way the warm compress will help.

Thank you for caring for this poor kitty. Let us know how it goes!

Yes i brought her in as soon as i realized she was preganant! I called all the vets in my area and they all said they cant get her in for two weeks. I think she will birth before that though....is it normal for her milk not to be in at this point? I noticed her nipples are really dry and one of them is cracked and had some dry blood, what can i do to help this? She gets really amtsy when i touch her tummy for too lomg. Amd i will give the compress a try!

You can apply olive or vegetable oil to her nipples as a safe and edible emollient. You'll need to keep applying it. This also tells me that her diet has not been sufficient. It's sad. The oil will help, but they will get more sore with nursing, so you should probably buy some Udder Creme to use long term. It's safe for kittens if you get it at a farm supply store. She will appreciate the relief.

You can also add a raw egg yolk or scrambled egg to her wet food for extra nutrition. And plain, boiled chicken. And pick up a can of powdered kitten formula at a pet store. KMR (kitten milk replacer) by PetAg or Royal Canin is good, and will add needed calcium to her diet. Give her a couple of dishes of it a day. The kittens can drink it when they begin to wean.

And let me know how her bottom is. That may be related to her diet too. She is lucky to have found you. They do seem to sense when someone wil be kind to them.

And yes, her milk will come in soon, especially as her diet improves. If not, it will come in after the kittens are born.

Is she using the litter box?

Yes! She is using no problem! Her poop is solid but soft and a very light brown. No worms! But i think it is soft because she is getting real food now! I also have noticed i cant get her to drink water, she hasnt touched it in two days! But ive been giving her wet food and dry kitten food for hydration

If she gets thirsty enough she will drink more water. She's getting it from the wet food right now.

Will you be able to get KMR?

You may want to get Advantage in case fleas show up. Do you have other pets?

Already applied advantage! And i do have other pets, however she is in my spare room with the door closed so they cant get in and she cant get out. I have to see if i can get KRM, i applied the oil to her nipples and she cried out at me and then gave one a couple licks, now she is wanting more oil?! She began licking the bottle and chasing after me when i tried to leave the room lol i will post a pic of her bum too, i think its large but i may be wrong.

Also i tried wiping these off and they wont come off, is the black dots okay?

The oil may help soften her stools. I couldn't hurt to apply a little more.  You might even want to put a little on her anus.

Oh, poor baby! She needs to see a vet for her bottom. Can you swing by an emergency vet this weekend if no one else can see her? That really needs to be taken care of!

Have you put the warm, damp compress on her bum and held it there? Like with a wash rag? Then re-wet in warm water and apply again. Let's see if the swelling will go down or if anything will come out. I'm not sure what the black dots are.

Just keep the oil on her nipples. It's okay if you give her a tablespoon to drink. It won't hurt her.

Good job on the Advantage!

Yes i did ! I applied some oil to her bum maybe it will help a little, i sadly work all weekend :/ but if she hasnt had her babies by monday i will see what their rates are. I gave her a half a cap full of the oil too and she licked it all up and then began ferociously cleaning herself lol she has been laying in a whelping area i set up to, hope thats a good sign!!

Keep oiling that rear and those nipples. I'm glad to see (literally) that her anus is getting better. Are her nipples less cracked?

With all the movement you're seeing, she may have a few days to go. When she looks smaller on the sides and heavier underneath, she's dropped and you will see less movement. That is the babies getting into the birth canal. At that point her vulva should begin to dilate and she will be close to delivering. When you see her belly rippling in waves, she will be having contractions.
