kiten treatment

hi a 3 week old kitten was abandoned by her mother and wheh i find her was very weak and  skinny.i was given to her a cat formula with a drop of honey.she was refusing to drink so i was giving to her the formula drop by drop at the side of her mouth.she was drinking about 5ml every 3 hours.the second day i though she was geting better but i notice the third day she was breathing hard.so i take her to the vet and he told me she have  respiratory distress and she may no survive.my  options was to try and treat her and run test or Euthanasia  .becasure i have some money problems i say to treat her up to 500$.the kiten die overnight at the hospital.the doctor told me she had anemia and Aspiration pneumonia. that is the treatment the kitty  Receive :clavamox drops 62.5 mg 15 ml. glucose glucometer.baytril 0.10 2.27%. 3 oxygen therapys.capstar 11.4 mg blue.all cost 419$.was ok this treatment;also how he knows the kitten has anemia and aspiration pneumonia with out blood test and x rays;sorry for my english.thanks

I'm so sorry for your loss. It sounds like you did everything you could. Anemia can be inferred by how sick she was. If she was weak, starving and dehydrated it's probably a given. The aspiration pneumonia can be heard while listening to the lungs and also inferred by the rapid breathing and respiratory distress. It's most likely why she was given an oxygen treatment. If bad enough it can cause an oxygen deficiency. Unfortunately these are all very common things to see in a young kitten that has been out on the street.

i worry if the treatment kill the cat because the baytril and the capstar shouldnt be given ti kittens under 2 pounds.

There's not really many things you can give a kitten that small. If you don't treat, than the kitten might die. If you do, than the kitten might die. I'm sure the doctor made the best decision they could in an emergency situation like that. But really the only way to know exactly what happened is to talk to the doctor directly. I think it sound like it was a tough situation in general :(
