Hi guys, I'm new here
I own three cats. One of them has kidney disease; requires a saline IV every week (administered by yours truly) and special renal food. The other two have no diseases and are fully healthy. The problem is, they don't like their normal (albeit high quality) cat food and prefer the special renal food that we give the cat with kidney problems. We are aware that our two healthy cats require the protein provided by regular cat food so it's been stressful for them to reject the food they need in favor of the food low in protein and other vital nutrients.
My questions are:
-Are my concerns legitimate, or is it okay for cats to eat renal health food even if perfectly healthy (do they need more nutrients than renal health food requires?)
- How can I get my cats to eat the food they're supposed to without fussing? I am frequently in and out of my house because of my work schedule and need to adhere to feeding times in order to ensure that I put the normal food away after a short period of "feeding time" so that the cat with kidney disease doesn't eat the normal food while I'm away and reverse the positive effects of the treatment I've been providing for him.
Any info would be great! Many thanks in advance
