Cats fighting

I have 2 one year old male cats who have just recently started going outside. Tonight one of the cats has been out alone and upon returning home the cat that stayed home has immediately started to fight with the cat that has been out now we can't put them together without them fighting there currently in seperate rooms of the house can anyone pls help me out on what I should do to stop them fighting.

The outdoor cat could well 'smell different' and that is upsetting the other cat.  It's very common when cats are brought home from the vets..

It should wear off after a time.  You could try rubbing the one that went out gently with a towel and then use it to gently rub the other one (scent exchange).

Some people use vanilla.

But really, they should just settle of their own accord.

Are your cats neutered?

They have settled down now and seem ok they are not neutered but after last night they will be soon thanks for the reply much appreciated

     You will find life much easier for you and them once they're fixed.

Stop letting them outside. It drastically lowers their life expectancy unless they are on leash. I think probably when the one who stays in smells outdoor smells on other cat, he is being territorial. Strange smells coming from cat and he is getting to go place indoor cat cannot. He is trying to reassert his place
