I have 4 cats. 3 three male catsand one female all fixed. The one female cat lives in my daughter's room with her own food and litter box she never comes out she's very antisocial she's very happy living alone. The three boys live throughout the rest of the house up until now I thought very happily. Their ages range from 5 2 and 1 years old. I have 3 litter boxes and plenty of room for them to run around and play. For the last 5 weeks my 2 year old cat bones has decided to urinate and defecate on my kitchen floor in the same exact spot every single day. He pees twice a day and poops once a day. We have tried everything we've moved litter boxes change the litter we've let him go outside because he's the only cat that likes to adventure outside we have done everything we can possibly think of. no uti. The 1 yr old cat chewy has been his little buddy... but this does not mean there hasn't been an issue that maybe we're not aware of. I'm at my wits end... i love my cats but he is destroying the tile and wood baseboard. I have read numerous threads on the site but none have mentioned anything about pooping so I'm wonder if anybody has any advice? Please I need help! I don't know what else to do my husband is ready to make him live outside and I won't let that happen so I need to resolve this thank you in advance!

The first thing to do is get him checked by a vet. These kinds of issues often have their route in physical problems.

Also, look at what's going on outside your home - there could be some other cats (possibly ferals) in the neighbourhood that are making him feel terratorially threatened.

Lastly, look at the relationships between your own cats. Chewy is the equivalent of a teenager, and could be trying to usurp Bones' position.

In the meantime, you could try using puppy training pads in the area that Bones is going - they'd at least protect your floor and make cleanup easy. (I'm assuming you've tried putting a litterbox exactly where Bones is doing his business. If not, that's another good choice). Do bear in mind that the ideal number of boxes is one per cat plus one extra. Adding in an extra box might go a long way to solving this situation.

I did try putting the box in the exact spot. ... to no avail. Although I didn't realize I should actually have 5 boxes rather than 4. I will try that next. Yes I am concerned with chewy... but they continue to cuddle and bones will clean chewy and care for him still like he has since day one. Chewy is a wild little guy for sure. Maybe a trip back to vet is in order. Maybe something other than uti which was ruled out. Thank you food taking the time to help me. I appreciate it

No luck. At all. I'm at my wits end. I have banned him to the basement until I can figure this out

There will be a way through this. It always takes time to work through problems like this. Have you tried Dr Elsy's Cat Attract cat litter? It often works where other things have failed.

Have you checked that there aren't any neighbourhood cats making him feel terratorially threatened by marking the house outside?

It's really important to look at reducing stress levels too - stress is a major factor in litterbox issues. Feliway diffusers are a good place to start, and Composure liquid may help Bones too.

Hang in there - there WILL be a way through this :vibes:
