Spay incision: should I be worried?

My kitten was spayed 7 days ago. She seemed fine, licked at her wound a little (mostly the first night, but I kept distracting her), but I haven't noticed obsessive licking.

2 nights ago I looked at her belly and thought it looked a little bit behind where it should be in the healing process. I didn't have the cone on her because she panicked and I was worried about her injuring herself, so yesterday I bought her a baby onesie to make sure she isn't licking her wound.

Since it wasn't enough to cause dripping or anything like that, I didn't notice until yesterday that she has some brown discharge coming from the wound. Other than that it seems fine: the actual incision a little pink but not bright red (looks just like a normal healing wound to me), no redness around the incision, a slight lump but it's not hot, etc. Should I be concerned about this?

I plan to take her to the vet soon but there were no appointments today and I can't tomorrow during normal hours. If this can wait two days till Thursday I'd prefer to take her then, but if it's an emergency obviously I'll see if a vet can fit her in for emergency today. If I'm cleaning her wound area and leaving her onesie on, should I be concerned about waiting 1.5-2 days before going to the vet? Thanks!!

Brown discharge indicates there is something wrong. You certainly have the option to monitor and see if there are changes.

What and how are you cleaning the incision area?

Thank you! That makes me feel a little bit better. Still keeping an eye on it and definitely going to go to the vet soon, just wanted to make sure it wasn't an immediate emergency.

I've just been wetting down a towel with water and gently dabbing/wiping it clean, and put a little bit of neosporin on it last night and this morning.

Just a side note, she seems to be eating/drinking/using the litter box like normal, a little more relaxed the past couple days but I think that started as soon as I put her onesie on. She seems fine in terms of energy and personality, so that's a good thing.

Ok, thank you. What do you recommend then in terms of keeping the area clean?
