Has anyone used Purina Pro Plan Focus Adult Urinary Tract Health Formula Chicken Entree in Gravy Canned Cat Food for a cat with previous Struvite Crystals, and if so, how do you feel it worked for your cat? Thank you.

I have not, but I do know that a diet of canned food, urinary specific or not is much better than any dry diet, urinary or not, due to the fact it contains water, that is one of the main points, to be sure the kitty is consuming enough water with the food, not out of a dish, to keep the urine dilute and the bladder happy. Purina brand foods are actually pretty good. I do feed canned Purina Friskies Turkey and Giblet pate with extra water added to my male cats that have had urinary issues. Struvite crystals are actually not an abnormal finding in cat urine. I will leave the link to Dr. Pierson's blog, Cat Info, which is where I get my nutrition information for my kitties. http://www.catinfo.org/?link=urinarytracthealth

If it has grain in it, I avoid it completely as grain affects both my cats severely as far as bowels go, regardless of the brand.

thanks to all who wrote. i have always used purina, canned. but the purina dry always made him throw up. even the one for urinary care.

the only dry he has now, is the rx one from the vet.

but he eats a can a day of the friskies right now since he can no longer eat the rx canned.

i tried one can of the beyond i think it was chicken or maybe turkey, with sweet potato and he held it down. i tried it to see how he'd do on it but it's expensive. that one can was a small can and was a dollar and ten cents. i tried it because it is supposed to be grain free  and i thought it might be similar to the blu. i want to try the blu freedom to see if he can eat that okay, but it is so expensive. as far as the pro plan urinary canned, i dont think it is grain free.not really sure, but i dont think so. i would have to look further into it.

thanks again for writing.
